Here’s the Alberta Separatist movement for ya- Marty Belanger says “we’re being held hostage by a handful of *ucken Indians” Responding to the courts deciding today to grant a month-long stay preventing Alberta’s chief electoral officer from certifying the results of a petition to force a referendum on a proposal for Alberta to separate from Canada. Won in court today by First Nations chiefs challenging Alberta’s separation proposal. Sums it up, from the separatist point of view. Lays it all out on the table. Wow

There were uncontrollable sobs in my chest as I stood at Peez’uh near Pee-hee-mm-huh (Thacker Pass) where it’s being dug up for North America’s largest lithium mine. Indigenous Peoples whose ancestral territories this is that I interviewed, do not want their lands sacrificed to meet the world’s need for the “green” transition. The pain here is deep. Paiute-Shoshone were massacred here and their ancestors I spoke with told me some of them ran up this hill to try to escape. Ricochet Media @indiginews The Real News

Before visiting Grassy Narrows for this reporting trip, I knew it was bad. But did I ever find out just how bad it really is. An ENTIRE community poisoned; 50 years on after a pulp plant purposefully dumped mercury in the river. It’s devastating. The people of Grassy are doing what they can to survive. Please read my piece published today with photos by Geordie
