2024 wasn’t all painting. There was also lots of learning and growing and taking care of sick animals, pushing myself out of my comfort zone, filming secret projects, growing our little podcast, meeting new and interesting people, getting an agent (!!), hours and hours and hours hunched over my laptop like Gollum (when I had my MacBook serviced he said it was the worst case he’d ever seen 😭), lots of deep chats with friends, getting up on stage, laughter, etc etc.

I think it’s easy to forget the bigger picture - your ‘raison d’être’ - and, more importantly, all of the wonderful things you’ve already achieved, when you’re in the trenches of life. Whether you’re trying to find a new job, write the novel you’ve been saying you’re going to write for years… Or, like me, trying to put together a collection and organise an exhibition, all the while convinced that it’ll be a total failure, obviously. Here’s some clips from the past couple of years - some new work and some old work.

A quick little piece (in a looser style because I had to paint this from memory after a recent field trip to Endor.) 🎵- I don’t care what anyone says, this is one of the best scenes in Star Wars and I shall be walking down the aisle to this song one day.

Commodities is not a celebration of nature. The collection is an inferno and it is shining a light on the bizarre and entitled way that humans use nature and animals for their benefit. This collection has been in the works for almost 2 years already (!!) and there’s still a long way to go before it’s ready to exhibit, but thank you for comin along for the ride!

I took the reference photo for this piece back in 2021. I’ve been working on this collection for 2 years and it’s taken me 4 years to finally put this reference photo to use. The Saddest Show on Earth exhibition has been in the planning stages for about a year and a half and all prints, products, and limited editions have taken me about 2 years to make (if you include painting the pieces in the first place). All this time, I haven’t released a single product or print and have made all of my original paintings available to reserve only until the exhibition. If I wasn’t so stubborn, I think I would have cracked by now and done a little print release or a little product launch 😅🤡 Anywho, over the years I’ve definitely become a bit of a ‘long game’ creative (and businesswoman) and hopefully it’ll all pay off in the end!

I am running an art auction in aid of ActionAid UK to raise money for the women & children of Gaza. The attacks committed on Israel civilians were appalling and the spiral of violence that has since ensued is devastating. This summer, I have enjoyed sitting on my deck in the sun and planting vegetables in my little kitchen garden, whilst a humanitarian crisis of catastrophic proportions is happening in Gaza. With food, clean water and medicine being blocked by the Israeli government and civilians in Gaza starving, I have decided to partner up with Action Aid UK to raise money for the women & children of Gaza. Artwork will continue to be added over the coming weeks.

A little timeline cleanse for you… My sister took this video of my nephew, who had just learnt to walk, trying to get down the step, while my blind elderly lady tried to get up the step. The old and the young. ❤️ (My fav part is when he wants to lean on Maisie to balance but stops himself and cheers her on instead.)
