She said it was unbelievable, that he shows respect even to strangers on the street, and that her son could never commit such a monstrous act. Riya Talukdar has an elder brother. According to Ramanuj’s mother, the brother does not live in Assam. The couple had not even completed a year of marriage. Riya, from Noonmati, and Ramanuj, from Gauripur, had begun their new life together this year. Before the wedding Ramanuj worked at a private firm. ECI observer IPS Ajay Pal Sharma himself went to TMC’s strongman candidate Jahangir Khan’s house after receiving many complaints of threatening by locals. When he visited his house, At the residence, IPS Sharma found 14 West Bengal Police personnel deployed. When he sought details from the local Superintendent of Police, he was informed that Khan had been given Y-category security with 10 personnel assigned.
