As someone living under a US-backed dictatorship, I can tell you this is how it begins. 2 years and 21 State of Exceptions later, we’re ruled by perpetual martial law with Pentagon bombs, sexual torture, military checkpoints, activists starved, waterboarded or disappeared by soldiers. A little DEA operation turns into the opening of an entire FBI Office in our capital, the military killing protesters at a general strike turned into targeted assassination plots on indigenous labor activists, a few visits from a U.S. Envoy turns into U.S. boots-on-the-ground operations where campesinos are electrocuted. Ecuador has lived all of this already: the hijacking of a once socialist nation literally beat into a Yankee colony. We cannot let it happen to our sister nation of Bolivia too.

My investigation with Drop Site which exposed that U.S. forces had bombed, kidnapped and tortured 36 fishermen was referenced in a congressional hearing by Rep. Keating while questioning U.S. Secretary of War Hegseth. If you haven’t yet read the article, check it out below!

The voice of a nation, Toto La Momposina, the iconic Afro-Colombian singer and child of political prisoners who was black listed by Colombia’s fascist government for the pride of Black resistance in her music, has passed. She was the soundtrack to my childhood, she’s who I put on and dance for hours to when I’ve had a bad day, she is all of Latin America to me, her Bullerengues are a spiritual realm, and she herself is eternal. Rest in power, Reina de la Cumbia 🕊️

🛑 Footage of the U.S. military bombing Ecuador’s Amazon last night. SouthCom alleges it was a counter-narcotics strike on a FARC guerrilla camp; I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that this province also happens to have one of Ecuador’s largest oil reserves. This province is home to 5 indigenous communities who’ve been organizing and resisting against mining corporations for decades. Just last week, the fascist Noboa dictatorship illegally changed the mining laws to expand resource extraction —despite more than 60% of the nation voting against mining this past November— in what many elected officials are calling an “unconstitutional abue of power”. The FARC guerrilla are a *formerly* Marxist organization born in response to the fascist Colombian state that massacred over 20,000 people between 1948-1958 and as resistance to centuries of unequal land distribution, exploitative working conditions, and the imperialist Cold War. Since then, the FARC is alleged to have been infiltrated and corrupted by drug cartels and other bourgeois agents, no longer acting in the interests of the working class. You know who else has been infiltrated by drug cartels? Ecuador’s Presidential Palace. The shipping company owned by fascist dictator, Daniel Noboa, was found with almost 30 million euros of cocaine in its cargo. Despite the findings of this international investigation, the United States continues to refer to Daniel Noboa as their “Number One partner in combatting drug trafficking in Latin America”. The irony.

Military police are disappearing people from their homes. Operation Cóndor has returned to Ecuador. Our president, who’s actually an American born in Miami, is expelling indigenous Ecuadorians from their land and dissolving our constitution in order to build a US military regime.

This is why I never understood the “labor organizing is white man’s theory”. All my life, general strikes have been led by militant runa women shutting down trade routes with traditional Sanjuanito song. Garment workers in Haiti. The Cochabamba Water Wars.

My grandfather, former General Secretary of Ecuador’s Communist Party, being interviewed on how Che Guevara helped him escape a military dictatorship and took him to Cuba to study guerilla warfare that he then used to found Ecuador’s first marxist guerilla and workers commune ❤️

🔴 Associate of murdered presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio alleges Ecuador’s then–Minister of Interior had prior knowledge of the assassination plot. Speaking to Señal Colombia, Gisella Molina—who was also hurt during the attack— maps out the highly questionable ways Lasso’s minister conducted himself prior to, during, and after the shooting (for which he was present, but conveniently avoided by exiting through a different door than the one where Villavicencio was shot). Villavicencio was investigating Lasso’s administration for connections to drug cartels at the time of his murder. The murder of Villavicencio paved the way for Noboa to win the presidential election. Since becoming president, he has shielded and protected Lasso (who has long had close ties to Noboa’s private companies). In recent weeks, the two major drug cartel leaders involved in the assassination have gone on record saying Noboa ordered the hit on Villavicencio and promised them immunity in exchange. They claim they’re speaking out now because Noboa didn’t hold up his end of the bargain. Villavicencio’s main campaign promise was to combat cocaine trafficking. Noboa’s private companies have been caught shipping at least €26 million worth of cocaine. It is indisputable that there are two living presidents, one former and one current, who benefited greatly from the death of Villavicencio. Let’s do the math, folks!

🛑 The U.S. opened its first FBI office in Ecuador today, in what officials claim is an effort to combat drug trafficking in partnership with President Noboa — who himself has been investigated for ties to drug trafficking. This comes five days after the U.S. bombed multiple indigenous Ecuadorian civilians’ homes while allegedly targeting a drug camp. The long and brutal history of FBI and DEA operations in Latin America suggests this development will bring nothing but bloodshed and further instability to a country already under a State of War Decree. Which is precisely why 60% of Ecuadorians voted against U.S. intervention in the region this past November.

Ecuador, once a member of the socialist Bolivarian Alliance, is under siege by a US-backed military regime that’s kidnapping labor activists, assassinating Black teens, and displacing 90,000. In this clip from Millennials Are Killing Capitalism, I detail life under a State of War with US mercenaries

The National Federation of Indigenous, Campesino & Black Ecuadorians, along with La Revolución Ciudadana, officially proposes a recall of US puppet Noboa’s presidency, which we have the constitutional right to do, citing the national crisis, IMF debt, and violations of int’l law.

In 2 weeks, Ecuador votes on whether our constitution should be dissolved to allow the reestablishment of US military bases. Last time we went to the polls, Noboa banned international observes, violated the constitution and had Blackwater Mercenaries patrol and intimidate voters:

We’re witnessing the burial of our nation Ecuador by a US-backed military regime. Colombia is proof you either defeat it before war becomes the main economy or else you become an eternal war zone. The next few weeks determine forever and my hearts breaking

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Comandante Samora Machel of FRELIMO 🌺 One of the greatest architects of a socialist state and class struggle, he led Mozambique to freedom with some of the best synthesis of Marxist theory and military strategy this world has ever seen. A Luta Continua!

Each fathers day, I think of how I wouldn’t be here if Che Guevara hadn’t helped my grandfather escape the CIA. I think of how he was a guerrilla fighter who somehow still made time to watch my dance recitals. I think of how many other political prisoners didn’t get that freedom.
