Staff later said that nobody scripted that moment. The robot has to recognize the object, judge where the hands should go, control finger pressure and place the frame on a face without scratching it. Every one of those steps is its own engineering problem. The guy got his sunglasses back, but he reportedly said he didn’t want them anymore. “A robot wore them. I’m keeping them forever.” Teaching a machine to walk is hard. Teaching it to try on sunglasses like a human is the real flex. Hand a humanoid a pair of sunglasses and suddenly “can it walk” is no longer the benchmark.
