For anyone travelling from Chennai to Trichy, Madurai or the southern districts, the next three months are going to be a nightmare. Maintenance work on the Cauvery bridge near Odathurai, Trichy has brought traffic to a crawl. It now takes over an hour to cover just 2 km and that’s before even reaching the bridge. The bigger question is why do highway authorities begin such massive maintenance works without planning proper alternate routes ? The public is paying the price for poor planning.
