Color sorters are among the earliest commercial robotic vision systems. Even today, many industrial systems still rely on line-scan CMOS/CCD sensors paired with FPGA processing. The reason is simple: extreme latency requirements. Materials often move at 3–8 m/s, leaving only 5–20 ms for sensing, decision-making, and actuation. FPGA provides deterministic real-time computation, but it does not "understand" the image. Meanwhile, mainstream GPU-based AI solutions still struggle to match this level of low-latency industrial performance.

I’m honestly shocked by this. 🤯 I found a “smart ice cooling mini fan” on Kickstarter priced at $152. Then I looked at the hardware BOM: ABS parts: ~$0.32 PC shell: ~$0.36 18650 battery: ~$0.14 PCB: ~$0.14 Semiconductor cooling plate: ~$0.35 Motor + blades: ~$0.11 Estimated manufacturing cost: ~$1.88. A product with a few dollars of hardware cost is being positioned as a $152 innovation product. The gap between factory cost and consumer price is truly unbelievable. 🤯 Is this the power of branding, or the power of perception?

Spent 4 months building the ultimate mosquito killer: an artillery cannon guided by computer vision + deep learning. Trained a custom model to detect and lock onto mosquitoes using a DSLR + zoom lens setup. The dataset collection phase was brutal — the mosquitoes definitely fought back 🦟

Built this 3D-printed VTOL fixed-wing aircraft from scratch. The airframe is made from ABS/ASA, reinforced with carbon fiber, and powered by an F405 flight controller with GPS-assisted flight modes. Seeing a pile of parts turn into a flying aircraft is always worth the effort. 🚁➡️✈️

This drone, made of only two sticks, four propellers, motors, a controller, and a battery, has truly reshaped my understanding. Paired with the high-tech-looking remote control, it’s incredibly fun to fly—so much so that you’ll be completely absorbed. It can be flown both indoors and outdoors. Unlike those small planes that crash after just a couple of spins, this one hovers steadily. Fly it however you like.
