🚨 A MASSIVE Shift happened overnight with the Weather Models that has pushed the heaviest Snow Zone roughly 200 miles north ⬆️ ❄️ This means areas like Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and even parts of the Northeast may now see higher Snow totals than previously expected. 🧊 On the flip side, this shift also increases the risk of Sleet and Freezing Rain for areas that were hoping for Snow, including Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Virginia, and the Carolinas. ⚠️ IMPORTANT: These shifts DO NOT remove the threat of a CRIPPLING Ice Storm in the South. Some Models (like the generally reliable Euro Model) even have a crippling 1-2" of Ice accumulating there. 🧊 To put Ice amounts into perspective: 🧊0.25” – Highly disruptive. Iced roads, scattered power outages, tree and line damage. 🧊0.5” – CRIPPLING. Severe tree damage and widespread, long-lasting power outages. 🧊1” or more – Catastrophic. But when Arctic air is in place, snowflakes grow lighter, fluffier, and more efficient, and ratios SKYROCKET. Our Storm has: ✅ Arctic air firmly in place ✅ Ideal snow forming temps aloft (-12°F to -24°F) ✅ A very solid upper-level temperature profile ➡️ That supports 12:1 or even 15:1 snow ratios in spots. Every inch of liquid turns into WAY more snow. ⬇️ Bottom line: This is the kind of setup where storms *could OVERPERFORM. ⚠️ I’m not liking the way this Winter Storm is trending for our Texas brotheren.... One aspect that isn’t being talked about enough is the combination of significant Ice Accumulations followed by days of Brutal Cold. If Texas were to receive even a fraction of the ice currently being shown, widespread power outages would become a real concern. With frigid air rushing in behind the storm, temperatures could remain at or below freezing for days, making recovery much harder. This will not be as cold as the deadly Winter Storm of 2021, but the dangerous combination of ice and prolonged cold will still be there. 🌡️ Some areas could see temperatures 30 to 40 degrees below average after the storm, which would compound impacts if outages occur. One aspect that isn’t being talked about enough is the combination of significant Ice Accumulations followed by days of Brutal Cold. If Texas were to receive even a fraction of the ice currently being shown, widespread power outages would become a real concern. With frigid air rushing in behind the storm, temperatures could remain at or below freezing for days, making recovery much harder. Unfortunately, I do not have good news. The Severe Weather threat for tomorrow has only trended up. We are staring down a full fledged Tornado Outbreak. I haven't see environmental conditions this favorable to Tornadoes in June in a long time. The National Weather Service Office in Chicago is calling them "literally off the charts" favorable for Tornadoes. The Conditions present tomorrow⬇️ ✅ Extreme Low Level Helicity, likely greater than 500 = Air will be twisting like crazy near the surface, making it stupid easy for Strong Tornadoes to form ✅ Strong Low Level 0-3km Cape = Fast rising motion near the surface ✅ Upper air support (500mb Jet Streak) = Strong Wind shear, meaning the entire Storm will rotate. This will also make Storms move fast, likely racing near 60mph. ✅ Small Temperature to Dewpoint spreads = Low LCL's meaning the clouds will be lower making it much easier for Tornadoes to reach the ground With this type of environment, "Long Track, strong-violent Tornadoes" are also possible according to NWS Chicago. All the ingredients are there for a potent setup. THIS is what a LONG TRACK Supercell looks like ⬇️ 🌪️ Today featured a LONG TRACK Supercell that produced multiple Tornadoes, including a potentially SIGNIFICANT Tornado near Bloomington, Indiana. 📏In total, this Storm tracked over 150 miles while maintaining impressive structure for much of its life cycle. 🌪️ It was essentially its own Tornado factory. This is exactly what meteorologists mean when we talk about LONG TRACK Tornadoes and Supercells. 🙏Please pray for the people of Bloomington, IN. California is about to get MORE Rain, MORE Snow, MORE Wind, and more Flooding as another Atmospheric River pushes relentless moisture onshore. 🌧️ Rain and Flooding: Another 5–10 inches of rain or more is possible, which could lead to dangerous to catastrophic flooding, especially in areas already hit today. Burn scars from recent Southern California wildfires will only worsen runoff and debris flows. Widespread Flood Warnings are now posted along much of the California coast. ❄️ Mountain Snow: Heavy snow will fall nearly all day tomorrow in the mountains, piling up in the feet.
