The 2011 Red Sox went 7-20 in September. They entered their last game (vs the Os) tied with Tampa for the WC. The Sox had a 3-2 lead in the 9th, but the Os plated two to walk us off, the winner scoring on a ball that Carl Crawford *probably* should've caught. But what do I know.

21 years ago tonight, the Red Sox pulled off the greatest comeback in MLB history. I've watched this clip a million times & will likely watch it a million more. In fact, at my funeral, just play this on loop with a note that says "he got to see it." Folks will know I died happy.

18 years ago tonight: In a classic example of FAFO, the Indians, up 3 games to 1 in the 2007 ALCS, tried to get in Josh Beckett's head by having an ex-GF sing the National Anthem. He responded by pantsing them on national TV, striking out 11 and giving up one run through 8.

July 8, 2011: Remember when we hated the Os almost as much as we hated the Joe Maddon-led Rays? Pepperidge Farm remembers. And so does David Ortiz, who charged pitcher Kevin Gregg after a few inside pitches and some words. Worth it for Orsillo's spirited "It's time to fight!"
