The director pulled Aubrey Plaza aside mid-sex-scene and told her to suck on Robert De Niro’s nipples. She actually went for it. He started batting her away and she couldn’t tell if it was the character or just Bob. Then they cut and the director walks back over: “Bob does not like his nipple area paid attention to.” So now De Niro thinks she was the one who wanted to do that. That’s the part I can’t stop thinking about. Not the 10-hour shoot. The fact that one of the greatest actors alive spent the rest of the day assuming Aubrey Plaza had a personal thing for his nipples.

Joan Rivers talking about flying back from London after cremating her mother-in-law and then saying “I thought I should’ve waited till she was dead” is still one of the coldest, funniest things I’ve ever heard a person say on stage. The part where she starts doing the mother-in-law’s voice going “I’m not dead! I’m not dead!” and Joan just snaps “Shut up, it’s not always about you” while the audience is screaming… that’s the exact second you realize she had zero fear. And she still had the Dick Clark balls-dropping bit and the banana-and-knees closer left in the tank. Unreal timing. Nobody else could’ve gotten away with half of that set.

Dolly tells Johnny she’s got a gun in her purse and if her boss ever makes another indecent proposal she’s going to change him from a rooster to a hen with one shot. Then they play the actual scene and the audience just explodes. You can hear they weren’t ready for how clean and vicious that line lands. She says it with that sweet little smile like she’s offering you coffee. That’s the part that still works. Nobody else could threaten a man that politely and make the whole room cheer.

Reese really said “I’m mailing myself to China to kick his upside-down ass,” packed adult diapers and barbells like it was a NASA capsule, then spent what he thought was 24 days in a box… only for Dewey to just be torturing him in the garage the whole time. The absolute peak is when that random strong guy opens the crate and Reese immediately starts swinging, yelling some Chinese name, and hits him with “I don’t speak Chinese, jackass” while the dude is literally speaking English. Dewey is operating on a different level of evil genius. That kid was never getting mailed.
