#Sikhs suffered collective trauma in 1984, as #Amritsar #GoldenTemple complex was attacked, with intolerable destruction and loss of life. While previous governments tried to brush it under the carpet, we need independent inquiry to establish extent of Thatcher govt involvement.

Like global voices, I’ve openly called for #ceasefire, but Hamas and Israel have rejected it. I voted for roadmap to peace wanting end to violence, ICC jurisdiction (for war crimes), #Gaza siege lifted, stop settler violence, enduring cessation of fighting and 2 state solution.

Tory governments ignored Slough, but after lots of lobbying by me and Labour councillors, overjoyed to announce we’ve got an extra £71.8 million from Govt—a huge 47% increase! That's the difference a Labour MP and Gov makes for you. Local council must now use that money wisely.

Freedoms we all enjoy today were hard fought by Forces as diverse as modern-day #Britain. Tens of thousands of #Sikh soldiers died and 100,000+ were injured during both World Wars. Such bravery deserves an equally significant National Sikh War Memorial to mark their #sacrifice.

Alarming 44% of all religious hate crimes last year were targeted at #Muslims. When people like Boris Johnson make racist remarks about “looking like bank robbers and letterboxes” it has serious consequences. This distressing rise in #Islamophobia has no place in our society.
