OREGON🚨 ODOT knew by August that the I-5 bridge project had ballooned from roughly $6B to $13.6B. In September, while legislators were voting on transportation policy, ODOT staff claimed ON THE RECORD that no updated estimates existed. That was false. Not only that, this information was withheld while Oregonians were actively gathering signatures and executing the transportation tax referendum. Voters were making decisions without knowing the bridge cost had more than doubled. Taxpayers were asked to back tax increases without the truth. This follows ODOT’s prior $1B accounting error. What else is being hidden?

Oregon — Former Portland Trail Blazer Chris Dudley, who nearly pulled off a historic upset in his first run for Oregon governor back in 2010 (losing narrowly to John Kitzhaber by less than 1.5 percentage points) just announced his campaign for Governor again this morning. Our Republican primary on May 19 features several well-known names like Christine Drazan, Danielle Bethell, David Medina, and Chris Dudley — all bringing different strengths and visions for Oregon’s future. Who do you think is the best fit for Oregon and why?

So this is how it works in Salem? Vote the “wrong” way and leadership pulls you off the floor? During the HB 4145 work session, Rep. Tran voted NO. Mid–roll call, a recess was called by Rep. Kropf. Fifteen minutes later she came back — visibly shaken, reportedly in tears — and changed her vote to YES. That’s not persuasion. That looks like pressure. Derek LeBlanc has already filed a conduct complaint with the Legislative Equity Office — a Committee Rep. Kropf himself serves on. If you believe every legislator is free to vote their conscience, you might want to watch that clip again. The deeper you look in Salem, the uglier it gets. Oregonians deserve answers about what happened during that 15-minute recess. Email Rep Kropf now at: [email protected]

Portland — a city that constantly pushes anti-gun policies and works overtime to restrict law-abiding citizens from carrying — suddenly changes its tune when the protest climate they’ve defended for years hits City Hall. After an anti-ICE protest disrupted proceedings, Loretta Smith said she felt unsafe and began advocating for open carry for council members — and council members only. How about this, Loretta: go get your concealed handgun license like the rest of us if you want to carry. Follow the same rules your constituents do. And maybe stop pushing anti-gun control policies that strip rights from everyday Oregonians while carving out exceptions for yourselves!!! Equal rights don’t stop at the City Hall doors.

This is not the Portland, Oregon that I grew up in. I was a Trail Blazers Dancer in my early 20’s for several years and I used to LOVE being out in the city, especially at night! Those were some of the best years of my life. Now I worry about parking downtown in the middle of the day and getting my car broken into… not to mention all of the protests and riots taking place. It’s honestly just sad.

Let me remind you what we are really fighting against this November… Tina Kotek just told reporters she’ll be relying on “experts” to figure out how Oregon should pay for ODOT moving forward after voters absolutely REJECTED Measure 120. Reporter: “So tax increases are still on the table?” Tina Kotek: “I will be looking to those experts to really clarify what it is that we need to have as a state and give us options on how to pay for it…” Translation? Nothing is off the table. And to make it even more insulting, Kotek blamed Trump’s war in Iran and rising gas prices for why the transportation tax package failed so miserably with voters. No, Governor. Oregonians voted NO because they’re tired of being squeezed for more money while watching government waste, delays, mismanagement, and out-of-control spending continue year after year. Measure 120 failed because people cannot afford more taxes — and because voters no longer trust Salem to manage the money they already take from us.

“You don’t shoot into a slow moving car, you just step out of the way.” - Jeff Merkley I attended the Jeff Merkley town hall today and here’s what I observed: Today’s audience looked very different from the usual events I attend — almost everyone there was a voting Democrat, aged 65+ and you could tell his focus was on issues that appeal to that demographic. One of the first things he talked about was Social Security, painting it as being “on the chopping block” and positioning himself and the Democrats as the one who will protect it — clearly aiming to reassure older voters. What disturbed me most was how he addressed the recent ICE officer-involved shootings in Minneapolis and PDX. Instead of acknowledging the FACTS of these situations — Merkley chose to focus primarily on blaming ICE officers for “a lack of training” and called for the resignation of Kristi Noem. He also noted that he was skeptic of the PDX shooting because there was no video evidence and/or the federal government wasn’t releasing it, insinuating he doesnt truth them, nor should you. There was never a mention of the fact that the two suspects in PDX were TDS affiliated gang members or the fact that they are both in custody. At no point did he denounce the violent actions we’ve seen by riotors and activists or try to defuse the situation. Instead, he repeatedly emphasized anti-Trump rhetoric. Merkley also applauded Oregon’s recent legal wins regarding voter protections and mail-in elections and made those wins sound like heroic “defenses of democracy.” Now I can’t wrap up this summary without mentioning that he spoke on his publication, “10 Rules of Trump’s Authoritarian Playbook,” trying to tie everything to some broader threat narrative. In short, if you were hoping for thoughtful, balanced discussion on controversial issues like the ICE shootings, illegal immigration, public safety, affordability or our national divisions, you didn’t get it here. I was there and it was a disappointing experience. 📍St Helens, OR

Enough is enough. HB 4145 would force Oregonians to apply for a permit just to purchase a firearm — wait up to 60 days, pay a $150 fee, complete a state-mandated “education class” that doesn’t even exist yet, and then — if approved — go through the regular background check system. That’s not public safety. That’s a barrier for so many Oregonians!!! This bill prices working families — especially women — out of their Second Amendment rights and turns a constitutional freedom into a pay-to-play privilege. I will not roll over and accept that. And I know many of you won’t either. Keep fighting, Oregon 2A community. We’re not going anywhere.
