While rubbing Tilikum’s head at the pool’s edge, she was suddenly pulled underwater by her left arm. Tilikum (previously involved in two other deaths) held her for about 45 minutes despite rescue efforts. She died from drowning and blunt force trauma; her injuries included a severed spinal cord, multiple fractures, a torn-off scalp, and dislocated joints.
