In a feat that redefines human ability, what was once considered impossible has been shattered at the London Marathon: a sub-2 hour marathon. Sabastian Sawe (Kenya) ran 42 km in 1H.59M.30S and Yomif Kejelcha (Ethiopia) finished in 1H.59M.41S. Simply insane. For decades, this was spoken of as a barrier the human body could not cross. Under Congress, India’s tech capital, Bengaluru, is crumbling. Just see the video below. This the state of the road leading upto a prominent school in the city - Sri Kumaran Children’s Home. Thousands of young schoolchildren use this road everyday. This is pretty much the state of most of the roads in Bengaluru. The situation is so bad and authorities are so callous that despite the school requesting the authorities to fix it, they haven’t. Now the school has requested parents to also write to municipal authorities in the hope that their collective voice may be heard and the road may be fixed.

Congress, time and again, finds itself ridiculing matters of national security and the honour of our armed forces. Rahul Gandhi’s remarks trivialising Operation Sindoor and the Balakot strike, while mocking the efforts of our forces and the leadership tasked with defending India, reflect a deeply irresponsible and cynical approach to issues that demand utmost seriousness. National security is not a space for political mockery. The Prime Minister has been elected for a third term by the clear mandate of the people. It is shameful and disgraceful that the LoP Rahul Gandhi has chosen to lower the level of public discourse by insulting the PM and the citizens. At a time when the government is taking historic steps to implement the Women’s Reservation and ensure greater representation for women, the Congress continues its opposition to this progressive reform.

This behaviour by State Bank of India Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament. Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn’t being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at State Bank of India to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement. I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period.

What happens if delimitation is delayed or not undertaken? If nothing is done, Articles 81, 82 and 330A will automatically trigger after the next Census, leading to the redistribution of the existing 543 seats purely based on population. Take Kerala, from 20 seats today, it could drop to 14 if seats are redistributed based on projected 2027 population. The Modi Government’s proposal ensures the opposite, protecting existing representation while increasing seats. This is a clear case of gain, not loss. Watch my comments in the Lok Sabha today.

As promised, a new direct train from Bengaluru to Mumbai is flagged off today. 30 years after the first one began, in 1983. Another, faster Vande Bharat overnight sleeper will begin soon, in a couple of months. Thanking Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw Ji for launching the SMVT Bengaluru-Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus bi-weekly Express service today. This new train will improve regional connectivity and contribute to the economic growth of Karnataka and Maharashtra. Today, I also requested for a high-speed rail corridor on this route, via Davanagere & Hubballi, which would greatly reduce travel time and generate immense opportunities for people in the region.

It has come to my notice that certain political actors are mischievously twisting my statement made during debate on Women Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, specifically concerning the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill and the associated Telangana movement. First and foremost, I reject the deliberate insinuation being furthered by the Opposition, and firmly state my long-standing respect for the martyrs and protesters who sustained the Telangana movement. However, my comments must be seen as a reminder of how the Congress has traditionally betrayed the Southern states. In the case of the Telangana movement in particular, Congress’ betrayal has been stark. Starting with the police firing in 1969 that killed over 300 students and protesters, to nearly 1,200 deaths during the UPA years, the Telangana movement was built on the blood of martyrs who lost their lives due to Congress’ inaction. Even in 2013, the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh was announced after internal deliberations within the Congress party, while completely sidelining key stakeholders. It is a well-established fact that those who built the agitation were blindsided. Congress’ flip-flopping resulted in hundreds of deaths, including 16 people who died by self-immolation. I have merely highlighted how grossly mismanaged and non-transparent the partition was, which was an affront to the struggles and sacrifices made by the people of Telangana. The reference to the division of the country was made to draw a parallel with how the Congress acted, similar to how the erstwhile British rulers handled the division of Bharat. In conclusion, I reiterate my utmost respect for the martyrs and protesters of the Telangana movement. Their grit and resolve against years of injustice must serve as a reminder to fight the same forces that are attempting to place the Southern states at a disadvantage even today. I also strongly condemn all attempts to misrepresent my remarks, which were only meant to remind the great people of Telangana of their painful history and the gross injustice they endured for decades under the Congress. I want to thank Hon Min Shri G Kishan Reddy Garu, for putting the facts back on the table and highlighting misdeeds of Congress vis a vis Telangana Movement.
