This behaviour by State Bank of India Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament. Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn’t being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at State Bank of India to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement. I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period.

Rahul Gandhi’s reply to Elon Musk’s tweet today exposes two things that define Rahul Gandhi’s and the Congress ecosystem’s politics. Nothing exposes them better than this one tweet. First, when discussions were going on last year about Starlink’s possible entry into India, the Congress party opposed it, alleging that this was being done to support businessmen close to Prime Minister Modi. They even brought in the national security angle to oppose Starlink’s entry. And now, the same Rahul Gandhi has made a complete U-turn and is pushing for Starlink’s entry into India. He has not only reversed his party’s stand from a few months ago, but has also conveniently forgotten the national security arguments his own party had raised then. This shows that Rahul Gandhi’s opposition is simply for the sake of opposition. When they thought the Modi government was supporting Starlink, they opposed it. Now, when they think the government is opposing it, they are supporting Starlink. They can sway whichever way they want, as long as it is to oppose Modi. Principles, consistency and even national security can be conveniently forgotten. Second, look at what has happened today and how history has parallels to this. Rahul Gandhi is supporting a foreign businessman because he believes Indian businessmen are close to the Prime Minister. He seems willing to welcome a foreign businessman to challenge Indian businesses simply because he believes those businesses support Modi. This reminds us of Jaichand. There are many such examples in Indian history where our own people sided with foreign interests to further their individual political ambitions. Every time, such choices cost the nation dearly. These divisions and betrayals contributed to centuries of foreign domination and subjugation. Rahul Gandhi seems determined to replay the same textbook. But this time, the consequences could extend beyond political hegemony to technological and economic dependence as well. And for what? Just to oppose Modi? Will you oppose India just to oppose Modi, Mr. Rahul Gandhi? It is unfortunate that we have a Leader of Opposition like you, Mr. Rahul Gandhi.

I sucked at Math but I was still forced to study Math. Back in college, I was interested in Chemistry and Physics along with History and Economics. Unlike now, there was no multi-disciplinary option in the Congress era that gave students the freedom to explore their area of interest. Watch.

During Navratri, one of the most beautiful traditions in South India is the arrangement of dolls, depicting deities and stories from our great epics and Puranas. This tradition is not merely a celebration of creativity, especially among young children, but also a wonderfully engaging way of introducing them to our rich cultural heritage, mythology and timeless stories. Today, we had a bunch of very excited young visitors at home who enthusiastically and correctly identified all the dolls arranged by Sivasri! This is how our civilisation has preserved and passed on its cultural knowledge and heritage, from one generation to the next. Festival after festival, year after year, generation after generation, an unbroken continuity of culture and tradition. This is how a civilisation stays alive! Sivasri Skandaprasad 🇮🇳

AI is taking the world by storm. It is transforming every aspect of life as we know it. And all of us have our share of questions about AI. What will the future of jobs be? How will AI radically impact the economy and society? Does AI have consciousness? Will AI agents in the future have legal rights like human beings? Watch this fascinating conversation with IISc professor, AI researcher and entrepreneur Dr. prathosh A P where I’ve asked all of these questions.

The Hebbal 2 km short tunnel is unscientific, serves no purpose and a complete waste of ₹1,350 crores. The Congress Government's unscientific tunnel will cut down 1,128 trees, increase Hebbal Lake flooding risks, disrupts ground water and is designed to further worsen the traffic situation. It is unacceptable that the Government is gambling with infrastructure decisions. The short tunnel entails huge irreversible ecological costs merely to bypass the junction and dump vehicles at a faster rate back onto the same road 2 kms ahead. And when this was pointed out to the Government, instead of dropping the short tunnel it cooked up another unscientifically planned elevated corridor to clear up the traffic mess that will be created by the short tunnel. Hebbal already has the under construction Blue Line, planned Red Line, Orange Line and suburban rail converging here. Together this will make public transport a compelling preferred choice and provide sustainable relief to the traffic congestion. Instead of expediting the metro & suburban rail, the short-sighted Government has dropped the important Veterinary College Red Line station, which would serve 18,000+ riders a day, to accomodate the unscientific Tunnel and Elevated Road. Also, IISc confirmed the well established fact that the tunnel road costs 6X more per passenger than Metro. Even the State Finance Department questioned the need, huge costs, risky design, and the new bottlenecks the short tunnel would inevitably create. Bengaluru needs to focus on expeditiously building an extensive and reliable public transport network solution to effectively and sustainably manage the core traffic issues in the city. BDA, stop the unscientific short tunnel project. The city has already suffered enough with this nonsense. DULT Bangalore Development Authority

The public spoke, and the government listened. This is how democracy should function. I thank every citizen who turned up at Lalbagh, under the leadership of 91-year-old Yellappa Reddy Sir, to oppose the 5% park diversion law. I also commend the Chief Minister for respecting public opinion and deciding to withdraw this draconian law. But the fight is not over. Until the disastrous Tunnel Road project is officially dropped, neither Lalbagh nor the ancient Peninsular Gneiss Rock is safe. Today, I argued before the Hon’ble High Court opposing the Tunnel Road project. The Court has directed the Geological Survey of India to place its report before it and fixed the next hearing for September 10. The government has also amended the Karnataka Tank Conservation Act, reducing the lake buffer zone from 30 metres to just 3 metres to facilitate the Short Tunnel project at Hebbal Lake. This amendment too must be withdrawn. Our fight to protect Bengaluru’s lakes, parks and green spaces, and for the sustainable development of our city, will continue. Thank you, Bengaluru, for standing up for your city.

Listen to Dr. prathosh A P on how AI is reshaping our world. If AI can do our jobs and solve problems that once required the brightest human minds, what will our role be in a world where intelligence is no longer uniquely human? The Industrial Revolution transformed how we work. AI is challenging something we consider uniquely human. Who do we become when intelligence is no longer our greatest advantage? The voting numbers expose the truth behind Congress’s false SIR narrative in Bengal. BJP won by 36 lakh votes, while 27 lakh names were excluded through SIR. Even if all 27 lakh had voted for TMC, BJP would still have won by 9 lakh votes. Reports indicate that TMC won 13 of the 20 seats with the most deletions, while BJP won just 6. The BJP gained 87 seats previously held by TMC, with a roughly 7% swing in its favour and victory margins exceeding the number of deleted names. Further, BJP won 64 of the 70 seats with the least deletions. If SIR decided the result, why do the numbers tell a different story? Asianet Suvarna News

If every taxpayer can be tracked for every rupee he owes the government, why can’t the government show taxpayers where every rupee spent on roads has gone? The Government has admitted at various points that nearly ₹5,500 crore has been spent on Bengaluru’s roads. Citizens have a right to know where this money has gone and what outcomes it has delivered. My demand is simple. Within the next 30 days, the Government must launch a publicly accessible live dashboard for all road infrastructure works in Bengaluru. Every citizen should be able to see: • Which road is being worked on • The cost of the project • The contractor executing it • The officer responsible • The timeline for completion • The maintenance period • The defect liability period • The real-time status of the work This is not a difficult reform. Bengaluru is India’s technology capital. Hundreds of technology professionals would gladly volunteer their expertise to help build such a platform. Transparency creates accountability. Accountability improves quality. Quality builds public trust. ₹5,500 crore later, Bengaluru deserves answers. Build the dashboard. Put every road work online. Let citizens see where their money is going. Krishna Byre Gowda

In 1960, South Korea’s per capita income was $94. India’s was $82. China was neck and neck with us through the 1970s, India was actually ahead of China in 1980. But today Korea is 13 times richer than us in per capita terms, China is 5 times richer, Singapore is 38 times richer. Same starting point, just one difference, they freed their people to build. But the License-Permit-Quota Raj of Congress caged our economy and wealth creators.

Forces pushing for Regime change in the name of democracy are fuelling unrest across the world. Even developed countries are facing the consequences. Those involved in these efforts are merely proxies serving these forces. Regime change has neither changed ground realities nor improved people’s lives. India’s rise will stand as a barrier to these forces and their actions, which is why India is their ultimate focus. Mohan Bhagwat

Internet is no longer a privilege for a few. Just 12-13 years ago, 1 GB of mobile data cost ₹270. Today, it costs just ₹8-₹10, nearly 97% reduction. Since 2014, India’s digital landscape has transformed significantly under PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Today, India’s internet subscriber base has risen to over 111 crore and broadband subscribers have grown 17x in 12 years of Modi Government. Affordable internet has opened up new opportunities for students to learn, small shopkeepers to grow their businesses and millions of Indians to access digital services. This is Digital India.

I was travelling on the Purple Line this evening and missed today’s disruption by just a few minutes. I spoke to several fellow commuters and shared with them that I have written to the Commissioner of Railway Safety seeking an audit into the repeated disruptions. This is reportedly the 21st service disruption since January 2024. basetmajhee must explain why this keeps happening, make public the root cause of every incident, and tell Bengaluru what corrective measures have been taken. Commuters deserve transparency, accountability and a Metro they can rely on.

The Election Commission has conducted SIR nine times, 7 out of 9 were under Congress. Yet Congress questions it only when the BJP is in power, even though only two exercises took place under a BJP-led government at the Centre. Let me remind Congress that it was the PM Modi government that included the Leader of the Opposition in the CEC selection committee through the Chief Election Commissioner Act, 2023 - a step no previous government had taken. Article 324 of the Constitution entrusts the Election Commission with the responsibility of conducting Free & Fair elections. The SIR process is systematic and transparent. The last SIR was in 2002-03. In over two decades, people have died, migrated or changed residences. Electoral rolls must be updated to reflect these changes while ensuring every eligible voter is included. BLOs and Electoral Registration Officers cannot unilaterally delete names, they must follow the prescribed legal procedure. Since 1952, the ECI has worked to ensure every eligible Indian can vote, even in remote villages. Sharing my views with Asianet Suvarna News.
