Upon ejecting, he discovered his parachute was damaged. He hit the ground going 70-100 mph, and broke his back, arm, and shoulder, sprained his ankle, and withstood head trauma. He was hunted by armed Iranians with a bounty on his head, and evaded capture for nearly 50 hours while he waited on America to keep its promise: leave no man behind. 🇺🇸
