The highest pub in the #lakedistrict 💔😢😢 #pub #history I’m astonished!! 🤯🤯🤯 Forget the pebble dashed exterior but what about the historic interior?? 😮😮😢 An iconic Lakeland inn confined to history 🙄😢😢😢 I’m lost for words! “Here at Supreme Escapes, we are constantly striving to provide uncontested 6 star luxury manors for family get-togethers and groups of friends. Ensuring our guests have an enthralling experience is not only our priority: it’s our guarantee.” Guess that answers a few things. The bar will be closed to the public for good by the looks of it.

A legend in his own lifetime. “The King of the Fells”. “Iron Man”. We’ll never see the likes of Joss Naylor MBE ever again in the #lakedistrict 😢🌈 He was a good friend I looked up to and he loved my work offered advice too 🥹🎥 My working week is done. I’ll be off to his heavenly send off in Wasdale this week: Like many folk we always thought he’d live forever! A humble down to earth person born of the land that shaped him and inspired many others locally, across the UK and around the world. Popping round to Wasdale in a day or so I’ve no doubt there’ll be tears, hugs, laughter and smiles as pals and the local community share stories and more about this incredible athlete, shepherd, father, friend and more besides. All from an age where despite his physical disadvantages would put most athletes to shame nowadays given sponsorship, sport science and more. Joss will be remembered like Wordsworth, Ruskin, Wainwright and beyond within the history of the most beautiful corner of England. I’ll miss his sharp tongue, stories, honesty, humility and lovely, caring nature for all things people, places and Cumbria.

I think the folk at Cumberland Council and property developer Mr Dobie need to have a long hard look in the mirror ignoring local voices! 🌳🐿️ #nature #redsquirrel #protest I’d like to know why so many Tree Preservation Orders were removed and an out of date nature report was used in planning approval for “luxury apartments” 🤔🤔 It strikes me that in some parts of Cumbria (let alone afar) money matters more than local voices and wildlife. That includes a legally protected species! A national favourite! 😢🐿️
