If people know they might actually get hit, they’ll think twice before jumping in front of someone’s car just to virtue signal. You don’t fix this by punishing the driver. This is what happens when feelings override structure and virtue signaling outweighs logic. It rewards lawbreaking and dumps the cost on taxpayers. You don’t save your house by setting it on fire to keep the neighbors warm.
