This conflict has resulted in a tragic toll of over 200 lives lost and the destruction of approximately 5,000 homes, leaving 60,000 people homeless. Given these distressing circumstances, the peace-loving people of Manipur earnestly appeal to the Indigenous Mechanism and other relevant bodies within this council to facilitate communication with the government of #India: 1. To prioritize the pressing issue of #IllegalImmigrations and the widespread illicit cultivation of #OpiumPoppies covering an area exceeding 10s of thousand acres in the hills of Indo-Myanmar Borderland particularly in Manipur. 2. To urge the competent agencies and parties to take urgent initiatives by relevant mandates to address the gross violations of the human rights in the ongoing violence in Manipur. 3. To recognize and address the menace of narco-terrorism and emerging new #Goldentriangle and its far-reaching consequences on the longstanding ethnic harmony, economic stability, and ecological well-being of the Indigenous People in Manipur and WSEA region. 4. Given the suspected involvement of immigrant armed militant groups in narco- terrorist activities in the region including the ongoing violence in Manipur, we call for a thorough review of the policy of Suspension of Operations with such groups by govt. of India. ‼️The desecration of the indigenous form of worship ( #LamtaThangja / #SaroiKhangba ) by the #KukiChristians earlier today in #Manipur by abusing the elderly woman worshipper and kicking the offered ‘fruits and Vegetables’ to the #IndigenousGods ‼️ Today , the first ‘Saturday’ of the last month of the year which is known as Lamtai’s Thangja or Lamtai’s Saturday, is a very important day for the indigenous Meitei people of Manipur . On this day the Meiteis performed the ritual of #SaroiKhangba (propitiation of the evil spirits) on this day . It is the retirement day for all those Gods who have been working for the whole year, as well as the day for the evil spirits to chase them away far beyond the border of township. The ritual on this Saturday is done by the elderly women of the locality to appease the evil spirits on the Saturday of Lamta (month) Edible items such as rice, vegetables and others are collected from each family and offered to the tutelary deities - Koubru, Marjing, Wangpurel and Thangjing in order to propitiate the evil spirits who are hungry and demand food from human beings. But the #ChristianKukis who have no clue or has any respect for the indigenous way of life, are seen in this video ‘ abusing the ritual and kicking the offerings’. If this was an American or a European or an Indian Christian abusing and kicking the rituals performed by any indigenous people across the world , it would be the biggest headlines .
