When we first recorded "I'm Too Sexy" every record label rejected it. We couldn't get it signed, one label said it would never sell because the song starts with a vocal, and many of the execs never bothered to listen it. Then, it landed on Simon Bate's desk on his Radio 1 Breakfast Show and also the Gary Crowley show on the BBC, it just went mental, the song was being picked up everywhere. It was an instant hit becoming #1 across the world including the US (Billboard Hot 100) making it the first debut single since The Beatles to achieve that chart position. "I’m Too Sexy" has reached the #1 spot in the US on the Billboard 100 four times now due to the re-works by Taylor Swift, Drake and Beyoncé. Happy birthday to "I'm Too Sexy" and a massive thank you to the fans and everyone who has supported us along the way.

Remembering Phil Spalding who died Feb 5th 2023. Phil played bass on 'I'm Too Sexy', 'Don't Talk Just Kiss', 'Deeply Dippy', 'A Love for All Seasons' and this track 'Sweet Treats'. Although Phil was primarily a session player he always sounded very unique. Phil also worked with Ray Charles, Mike Oldfield, Mick Jagger, Seal, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Elton John, Heaven 17. God bless him. #philspalding #rightsaidfred #imtoosexy

#rightsaidfred at Top of the Pops, 1991! Off the back of our No. 1 Hit Single, “I’m Too Sexy”, we were invited to perform on Top of The Pops. Being on Top of The Pops back then was a very big deal — it made songs into hits and artists into stars. I remember queuing up to eat with the cast of Eastenders. It gave you the impression of acceptance!
