For years now, we've listened to Karen Read's supporters repeat the claim that Michael Proctor said, "pin it on the girl," treating it as some smoking gun of alleged corruption in the investigation despite there never being any evidence that Michael Proctor ever uttered those words. That phrase entered the conversation because Alan Jackson used it in court. From there, it was repeated so many times that people began treating it as an actual quote from law enforcement rather than what it really was: a phrase coined by Karen Read's own attorney. Now, thanks to Karen Read's civil team once again attempting to use "pin it on the girl" as evidence of supposed "corruption," we finally have clarity ON THE RECORD. Judge Gildea demanded that they identify the source of the quote because they had the audacity to include it in a filing without attributing it to anyone. When pressed to identify who actually said it, their answer wasn't Michael Proctor. It wasn't any member of the Massachusetts State Police. It wasn't anyone from Canton PD. IT WAS KAREN READ'S OWN DEFENSE COUNSEL as we've been saying all along. "Lies have momentum but the truth will always come to light." — Unknown

The people who said Bryan Kohberger was innocent, who blamed Dylan, Bethany, and their friends were just as sure that they were the guilty ones as the FKR crowd is about Jen McCabe, Brian Albert, Brian Higgins and Colin Albert. Both groups DEMANDING confessions from everyone other than the accused. Threatening others, slandering others, harassing others. See the pattern? Do you ever stop and ask: how is it always “someone else” and never the person actually arrested? All of them love to say “Karen/Bryan could be you,” but so could Dylan, Bethany, Jen, Brian, Colin…blamed for murder just for being a friend…or for simply just being there. Do better. Be better. If this is you, you are not a sleuth…you are just an asshole.

Are you starting to get it yet, FKR? You were never the heroes of some noble crusade. You weren’t special, you weren’t original, you were just pawns in a well-rehearsed script. You were used. Karen Read and her team fed you a story, and you carried out the dirty work…harassment, intimidation, slander, and worse. You were the blunt instrument in a strategy that’s become all too familiar in high-profile cases: muddy the waters, attack the witnesses, and shift the blame. And when it all falls apart, where does that leave you? Still clinging to a lie while the people who used you walk away unscathed.

Karen Read’s obsession with how she’s perceived by the outside world seems to be at the core of her decision to make drastic and harmful choices in an effort to protect her reputation. In Karen’s case, it’s clear that she felt pressure to maintain a perfect image - one that fit societal expectations of success, relationships and personal behavior. When John’s death threatened to expose cracks in her image, it became easier for her to deflect blame rather than face the possibility of being seen as imperfect or flawed. It was her or them. “Either I’m going down, or you are, Jen.” And sadly it wasn’t even a difficult choice for Karen.
