Interesting results. I was suprised to see the red given to Duran myself… But then again, I’ve been conditioned by @FA_PGMOL to never expect a red for violent conduct (even the most obvious examples) after watching their refs officiate my own team. So maybe I can’t tell.

This has been analysed to death and yet generally very poorly (O’Hara included). Guehi makes a failed challenge (fails to connect with the ball) that then turns into an attempted block. In doing so, he stands on Solanke’s standing foot before anything else occurs (which ends up costing Solanke his balance). Solanke makes contact with Guehi’s leg AND with the ball but it’s inconclusive which contact was made first. Even if you slowed it down frame by frame, it might not be clear. Given a goal was awarded and there was inconclusive video to clearly and obviously demonstrate a foul from Solanke, you go with the on field decision. If the video had clearly and obviously shown contact on Guehi’s leg first (before Solanke kicks the ball) then the correct decision would actually be penalty kick given Guehi’s initial challenge was careless (which occurred first). Man City players are claiming corruption (insane levels of irony) for a totally correct decision.

Honestly, I was not in favour of the Gyokeres deal at first. I wanted Sesko and his incredible raw potential. The dream of having the world’s best striker for 7-8 years if he filled that potential was so alluring But €90m (£78m) was an absurd ask for such a risk. And I think Gyokeres can be a top player for Arsenal. Plus I love his mentality, as Adam Clery discusses here (Ps if you don’t subscribe to his YT channel, you really should. So so good) I think it’s smart (so long as we go get Eze too!)
