After more than a year of negotiations, Canada’s negotiators are coming home and another tariff fight is beginning. So THIS is why Mark Carney’s trade deal collapsed. After months of “constructive” talks, “progress” and assurances from Ottawa, Carney finally tells Canadians what happened. He says the U.S. demanded: • Medium and heavy-duty trucks excluded from the auto deal. • Restrictions on Canada signing other trade deals. • Restrictions affecting Canadian language, culture and sovereignty. Carney says those last-minute demands killed the deal. Fair enough. But Carney was elected as the “master negotiator.” Canada was told his experience and connections were exactly what we needed to deal with Trump. Now there’s no deal. At some point, Canadians are allowed to judge the negotiator by the negotiation.

Will reconciliation ever end? According to Candice… NO. Plan for this to continue for generations. She says some people haven’t even started healing yet. Her son will need healing. Her future grandchildren will need healing. And she admits: “Don’t know how many generations it’s gonna take for us to heal, and healing is forever.” So when does reconciliation end? It doesn't. So keep the funds flowing If “healing is forever,” apparently there is no finish line.

Leah Gazan wants residential-school denialism treated as criminal acts of Hate, Violence, and Genocidal denialism. She wants the Criminal Code involved. Gazan says: “I can’t think of anything more violent than denying somebody’s genocide.” Her Bill C-254 would make certain public statements a criminal offence if they wilfully promote hatred by condoning, denying, downplaying or justifying the residential-school system or by misrepresenting facts about it. But here is my concern with “misrepresenting facts”: Does that standard only go one way? Are negative stories automatically treated as established fact while anyone challenging parts of the accepted narrative risks being labelled a denialist? The bill does provide a defence if the accused establishes that the statements were true. Maximum penalty: up to two years in prison.
