Such a smart way to get photorealistic graphics without melting your GPU. Basically a modern version of the trick that was used in the classic Mortal Kombat. I think we'll see this tech in more indie games soon.

GTA 6 is delaying PC, because... Look at the GTA Online revenues below. The gap between console and PC earnings is INSANE. PC players can easily bypass the Shark Card economy. They can use mods or play in unofficial roleplay servers like FiveM. But on Playstation and Xbox, you're locked into official servers where the only way up is to grind or pay. Rockstar is delaying the PC release to protect the launch economy of GTA Online 2.0 They're forcing the entire player base onto consoles for the first 12-18 months, and trapping their biggest whales in a closed ecosystem where microtransactions can't be bypassed. It guarantees them the maximum bag during the peak hype window. Plus, Rockstar acquired FiveM team back in 2023. The delay buys them time to figure out how to officially monetize the PC modding scene before they open the floodgates. What percentage of PC gamers do you think will get a console just to play GTA 6 at launch?

Mirrors in 007 look INSANELY clean. But they’re NOT using pathtracing or raytracing. They literally render the entire scene from a mirrored camera viewpoint and slap it onto the flat surface. Perfect realtime reflections of Bond, his backpack, the whole room + lighting… all super efficient. Same classic planar/render-to-texture trick used in Hitman and even GTA San Andreas back in the day. It works smoothly on any hardware without the heavy cost of raytraced or pathtraced reflections. Smarter than forcing pathtracing everywhere, right?

Frontlines looks fun, but the map is "meh" Battlefront maps felt like real planets because DICE used photogrammetry to capture the real world. They literally scanned actual geological formations (like Iceland and the Redwoods) to build 1:1 organic topography, instead of using flat modular assets. Of course there's a massive budget difference between the two, Frontlines is just a Fortnite mod after all. I'm just saying it probably won't scratch that Battlefront 3 itch. Anyone tried it?

No OLED or Mini-LED? Turn off HDR. A basic LCD monitor aggressively compresses the bright lighting to fit its 400nit limit and flattens the image. Worse… to hit that fake peak, it cranks global brightness to 100%. This completely washes out the darks. Cheap HDR basically takes the game's lighting, squeezes it from the top and stretches it from the bottom. Don't let the "HDR" marketing sticker fool you. You're better off going with SDR all night. But if you do have an OLED or Mini-LED, turning on HDR will make a real difference after you calibrate it. Here's a comparison on my Mini-LED TV 👇 Notice how the shadows stay dark while the highlights pop. This is what HDR is supposed to look like.

007 First Light is the best movie game ever made. The devs completely understood the assignment. They nailed the classic Bond feel right out of the gate. After the prologue, you get hit with a traditional iconic James Bond opening credits sequence. It's long, stylish, and backed by a lovely track. It's just wild seeing a game capture the exact atmosphere of the movies this perfectly. Huge congrats to 007 First Light

$1.7B loss is no fucking surprise for Ubisoft. > Have 16,600 employees > Spend shit ton of money > Release mid games > Have 0 success in the past 6 yrs About 2,500 people worked on AC Shadows, whereas: ~350 on Yōtei ~400 on Elden Ring ~450 on Baldur's Gate 3 Throwing 5 to 10 different global studios at a single Assassin's Creed or Far Cry is exactly why they're failing. When you have thousands of people across multiple continents making one game: 1. Creativity dies. Everything becomes a safe open-world checklist. 2. Studio loses agility. By the time they try to chase a liveservice trend, they are 5 years late. 3. Budgets get so bloated that the game has to sell 10m copies just to break even. They need a Capcom-style renaissance by stopping chasing trends and starting to do what they do best. 10 years ago Capcom was bleeding out, outsourcing IPs, and losing their identity. But they restructured. They shrunk their scopes, built a unified engine, and focused on their core IPs (Resident Evil, Monster Hunter). Today they're at the top of the industry. Ubisoft getting down to 5 localized creative houses and falling back on the Black Flag remake shows they might finally be waking up. Think they'll make a comeback and give us peak games like this? 👇

Wall Street wants GTA 6 to be $80. The publisher just confirmed GTA 6 has an "unlimited budget for perfection." And now an analyst is openly begging them to launch at $80 to raise the price tag for the whole industry. Because they know GTA 6 is the only game on the planet with enough hype to launch at $80 without causing a massive boycott.
