Btw you can join the playtest on Steam. Just search "I Have No Change"

Under a Killing Moon did this back in ‘94

Reminds me of one of my favourite pc games growing up, Titanic: Adventure Out of Time

This is cool and clever - but works because the camera is pretty much locked.

Isnt this what they did for LA Noir as well? Or am I mistaken?

That's much more complex and expensive. Rockstar used multiple cameras to scan human faces and rendered them in the game engine.

People forgot about 30 year old tech? Myst did this well. It actually still has a TON of potential, there are impressive ways of implementing it most people haven’t seen yet.

Hello, 1995?

Video games were doing this in the late 90's and 2000's. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but the reason it stopped is because it creates a strange uncanny valley effect where it's pretty clear the people aren't actually there. It's a unique style though.

The best version of this today is volumetric video, which can be viewed from any angle 😳

ppl really cudnt get that just from lookin at the video?

Its the "the Americans spend millions to develop ink that work in space, the Russians used a pencil" meme. The more computer graphics try to be "realistic" because of GPU advancements, we also remember we can just use ancient FMV-tech for a fraction of the manhours otherwise required.

“A modern version”

It wasn't actually used in mortal kombat. That's sprite cycling / flipbooks. It WAS used in hundreds or thousands of games over the better part of two decades. It's called FMV

A terrific way to practice listening comprehension for learning Russian. The accent is very clean compared to any accent in Russia. Even the Moscow accent isn’t this clean.

>imported videos into games >"I think we will see this tech in more indie games" Brother, that's a video, you can't go around the subject in 360°, because the video is shot flat. The reason it works here because you are locked to a very limited view of the charachter.

Dude, it's a fucking russian-nazi made game, why are you promoting it

Reminds me of At Dead of Night. which is a pretty fun horror game from 2020 with 3D environments and FMV characters. It comes together really convincingly.

Not even remotely "modern". It's old... Very old. The stuff ancient games use.

That’s exactly how they used to make ‘em, before everybody started jizzing over mocap

They really shouldve have longer end frames lol So you dont just seem em change on a whim (instead change it when camera turns around)

I want to remind you that by buying russian games, you are directly sponsoring the russian budget. The developers of this stuff pay taxes in russia, and those taxes help fund missiles that rain down on my country. Thank you for promoting this, good job 👍🏼

No offense but I guess you are of GenZ generation. We've had tons of games on 90s and early 2000s with this "tech"

For this I used "4D" People (Made up of thousands of Nano-Voxels, they look Hyper-Photo-Real!

oh, damn, rusian shit-developers invented a technology that was already being used back in the ’90s 🤣😂

This technology made Mortal Kombat on Sega great

I guess fuck Cyan Inc./Cyan Worlds then since they did it 30 years ago with their Myst series.

Жуть как реальность передает, но только это период 2000-2010. Сейчас таких маленьких нету, они называются ларьками.

I was super into this like 10 years ago. The best modern day version is hands down from the game OBDUCTION, by the creators of Myst.

It's really cool, but the greenscreen character in the game scene looks like something from the 80s. And the character and player both having hands, yet the payment machine and the visa card just hover in mid air is kind of strange... imho

@fierawifi bro imagine a horror game like this lol

woaa awesome o.o

played the demo, pretty great experience, had a lot of fun streaming it to friends and being confused on what item is the person asking for

@TheCarolos Carola tienes que jugar a esto 🚬

дедуля ахуенный

This is an incredible idea - I'm sure it's been done a bunch of times before but the taste and execution daaaaym
