During his wee-hour surprise inspection, Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Minerals Dr.Tk.Prabhu inspected the movement of mineral-laden trucks to Kerala, verified transit passes, and inquired about the strength of police personnel deployed there. He also inspected a weighbridge and checked whether the weight mentioned in the pass matched the actual weight of the truck and minerals. The combined weight of the truck and minerals was found to be around 54,000 kg for 18-wheeled vehicles. The inspection lasted from 1 am to 2 am.

Notorious rowdy ‘Rocket’ Raja, who has several murder & attempt-to-murder cases against him across Tamil Nadu, filed his nomination as an independent candidate in the Alangulam constituency. He has plunged into politics, eyeing the Nadar caste vote bank. History-sheeter Hari Nadar, for whom Rocket Raja had campaigned, secured over 37,000 votes in the Alangulam constituency in the 2021 election. Jean Joseph, a PhD student & wife of DMK functionary M Rajan, speaking about her refusal to receive the degree from Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, said the Governor had not done anything for Tamil. She added that she believes in the Dravidian model. “I did not find any achievements of the Governor for Tamil when I searched on Google. He could have done so much. I thought why I should receive the degree from the governor who is against Tamil and Tamil Nadu. I came to know, after reading the booklet, that our Vice-Chancellor Chandrasekar has also achieved a lot. I thought he would be the right person to receive the degree from. There are no personal reasons behind the refusal. I ask our system if we do not have the right persons, like the Chief Minister and the Minister for Higher Education in Tamil Nadu, to confer the degree,” she said

After Sivagiri Tenkasi District Police police inspector Muralidharan allegedly beat an elderly farmer in front of his 3-yr-old grandchild over a land-dispute, the farmer V Anthonyraj allegedly consumed poison in the police station. His son's demand is to check CCTV footage. As per Supreme Court order, it is the duty of the district Collector District Collector Tenkasi to ensure functionality of CCTV cameras. River Thamirabarani in Tirunelveli now. The situation remains same for over 2 decades. In Tirunelveli Corporation alone, large volumes of untreated sewage are discharged into river at more than 15 locations. During my election coverage over the past month, only few raised the issue of cleaning Thamirabarani.

Once again, a huge volume of Kerala’s biomedical, food, and plastic waste, mainly from Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cancer Centre and Credence Private Hospital, has been dumped in water body and patta lands in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli villages. A land supervisor said his complaints to Suthamalli police one month ago and Chief Minister's Special Cell on January 2 were ignored. We brought this matter to the district administration and police. An official said FIR is now being registered. What are the Tamil Nadu Police, RTO, and other officials doing at the check posts? Why haven’t State-level talks been initiated to address this? Why are opposition parties not talking about this? Why are we not sending the waste back to Kerala? C Manikandan (31), who was born without six fingers, has been deprived of government welfare benefits, including PDS and MGNREGS work, as his Aadhaar has been suspended due to lack of biometric information such as fingerprint and iris scan. After he petitioned the Tirunelveli Collector, his name was included in the PDS. But Manikandan has a long way to go to get him included in the Aadhar system. Manikandan, a resident of Azhakiyapandiapuram near Manur, said his efforts over the last four years to restore Aadhaar failed. Further, staff of e-Seva centres told him that he can enrol only at the UIDAI's regional centre in Bengaluru. "I was born without four fingers on my left hand and two on my right. The remaining fingers are also deformed. Also, I do not have toes on either foot. My wife is also a disabled person. We have two children. Around four years ago, my Aadhaar was suspended. When I tried to renew it, e-Seva staff told me that my fingerprints were not accepted by the system. The staff said my iris could not be scanned as well and advised me to go to the Bengaluru regional office. We cannot afford to travel to the neighbouring state," he said. Dear Aadhaar, pls help him
