The Governor of Guangdong Province, Wang Weizhong, attended the conference and introduced #Guangdong's dedication to advancing high-quality development and spearheading Chinese modernization. "Guangdong's economic target this year is a regional GDP growth of five percent, and we are confident to achieve it," Wang Weizhong said.

The year of 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Italy, as well as the 700th anniversary of the passing of Italian traveler Marco Polo. In such a special year, Guangzhou Opera House will bring the orginial opera Marco Polo back to the stage on May 3rd and 4th. To coincide with the restaging of Marco Polo, GDToday will host "An Encounter with Marco Polo", a series of events including an exhibition of Guangdong intangible cultural heritage and a panel discussion both at Guangzhou Opera House, in the hope of promoting the cultural exchange between China and Italy.
