Leaving the Catholic Church because of sinful priests makes no sense when you look at the Gospel. Jesus chose twelve apostles, and one of them was Judas. Judas betrayed Christ, but the other apostles did not leave Jesus because of it. They stayed with Him, even after seeing scandal, weakness, fear, and betrayal up close. The Church has always had sinners in it because the Church is made up of human beings in need of mercy. That does not change who Jesus is. The Catholic Church is still where Christ gives us the Eucharist, the sacraments, and the truth He entrusted to the apostles. Bad priests cause real damage, and the pain people carry from that should never be ignored or excused. The Church must take sin seriously, especially when souls are harmed. But the failures of some priests do not cancel out the holiness of Christ or the promises He made. Peter denied Jesus three times. Judas betrayed Him. Yet Jesus still built His Church and remained faithful to it. The question is not whether people in the Church will fail. They will.
