Today’s hobby project: Prototyped a real-time room scanning system with live sharing to XR devices. Explore scanned spaces in 3D on XR (not flat 2D screens) and share them with remote users for spatial remote collaboration. #metaquest #augmentedreality

Continuing my hobby dev project. Now the Meta Quest’s depth data can be streamed remotely together with position and orientation to visualize the surrounding structure in real time. I am thinking of new ideas based on this, so feel free to share yours. #metaquest3 #madewithunity

Added real-time color image transfer to the point cloud & tracking setup. Now you can sync device pose and spatial structure to a remote environment simultaneously. From Quest to mobile, the possibilities are expanding. What would you build with this? #MetaQuest3 #MixedReality

Experimenting Gaussian Splatting with 360 images! Having omnidirectional views ensures no capture gaps, which makes spatial reconstruction so easy. It’s honestly a blast to see the space come to life. #GaussianSplatting #3DGS

Hosting a 3D Gaussian Splatting study session soon. Made a quick video comparing point cloud vs Gaussian Splats vs trained result, all with the same number of points. Hope it sparks some interest in #3DGS among the attendees.

360 camera-based Gaussian Splatting is often highlighted for large-scale scans, but for around 2m × 2m objects, I’ve found it gives a higher success rate with my setup than 3D scan apps for smartphone. Definitely worth trying. If you’re interested, check out the reference below.

A test of real-time transfer of images captured on Quest to a PC, where they are converted into 3D using Apple's SHARP. Currently, the final 3DGS output is displayed on the PC. The next step is to bring the result back into Quest for in-headset viewing. #3DGS #metaquest #AR
