Football is such a brutal sport, things can change in a second. Arthur Okonkwo arrived on loan from Arsenal in 2023, he helped Wrexham secure promotion from League Two to League One. You can hear the fans singing for him to “Sign the contract”. This was at the end of the season in June 2024. Well, he eventually signed a 3-year contract and stayed with them. He helped them secure promotion again from League One to Championship. Wrexham signed Ward to replace him in the Championship, because Ward was more experienced…Unfortunately, Ward got injured as the season started. Okonkwo then helped them so much in the league that they almost got promoted to the premier league. Guess what? Ward came back from injury in the last 4 games of last season, the coach, Phil Parkinson benched Okonkwo. I can even say that’s why they didn’t promote, because he started to change the squad that was already doing well and sitting in a good spot for play offs. Wrexham has now signed Patterson from Sunderland. He was on loan at Millwall last season but those ones didn’t keep him. Okonkwo has now moved to 3rd choice. This is the reason he’s now being loaned to Charlton. If he does well, and Charlton does well, I’m sure he’ll get a good move because he is a good goalkeeper and he’s still 24. Again, football is brutal. Fans could be singing your name to sign a new contract today, and by tomorrow, you’re out. Football is not played with emotions, it’s a brutal sport.

Mbappe does not have the IQ to play football “very” effectively without his speed. Calm, and don’t drag me yet. Do you know why Messi is still effective at his age despite being slower? It’s because he has learned how to play football without having to run too much. At some point, Mbappe’s speed will reduce, but he doesn’t have that much IQ to survive so much without it. On dead ball situations where he doesn’t have to run, just watch, he’s less effective. He can’t drop a mad line-breaking pass, he can’t wiggle around players. I mean, anything that doesn’t involve his speed, he’s less effective. Of course he’s done a lot without his speed, but he’s less potent, I hope you don’t misunderstand this part. Mbappe is deadliest on transition. Same with Barcola and Dembele. If a team is in shape, these guys are not effective, e.g Paraguay…you can also see the France team, they don’t intend to keep the ball, their only plan is to wait for you to lose it and they play it to those 4 guys, you are finished. Please listen to Thierry Henry. He said he was so quick and relied on his speed, a coach had to tell him at some point to play without his speed. This made him think more and play more with his brain. If we’re in the top 10, there are certain players we would also get. Now, his master strategy is to recruit young players, and maintain an average age. Sunderland were the youngest team in League one, the youngest in the championship and now the 3rd youngest in the premier league, only behind Chelsea & Brentford. Despite this master strategy, it’s just like in agile project management framework, your plan needs to be flexible to accommodate changes, he’s recruited “experience” in Xhaka and Reinildo, to guide the youth.
