When Dire Straits took the stage at Live Aid in '85, most fans had no idea why Sting joined them, but when he started singing the opening lyrics to "Money For Nothing", they realized it was his voice on the radio hit which widely went unnoticed til then 🔥 Goosebumps when Mark Knopfler finally plays that guitar riff and the crowd takes over for the drums.

Will Ferrell's "Old Prospector" sketch on SNL was taped during dress rehearsal but didn't make to air because the cast kept laughing so much it made the sketch run way too long for the live show. Watch Chris Kattan especially barely keep it together 😂

Tom Green ruled MTV and was a teen-favorite prankster in the late '90s, but the fandom fell apart after this interview with rocker Jesse James Dupree who spontaneously chainsawed Green's desk. Tom was visibly angry, tanked the interview, and within seconds became the type of uncool adult he would target with his own pranks. After this episode, THE NEW TOM GREEN SHOW would last only one more month.

Right before Adam Sandler and Chris Farley went live for the first THE HERLIHY BOY sketch on SNL in 1993, Sandler said Farley turned to him and said "I'm gonna get ya", and he knew it meant Farley was going to go as hard as he could to get him to break. Adam Sandler added, "I think that was the most I ever laughed on air. He wanted me to break every time because then he won. He knew he could whoop me." 😂

Richard Simmons guest starring on WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen on tv. Even the show's editor had to trim out full minutes of the audience laughing so they could get the episode's runtime down to fit in its scheduled slot. Peak television right here.

In 2017, Ray Liotta was asked "Who was the most overrated actor from the '80s and '90s?" and he didn't hesitate with his answer 😂

![The SNL sketch that got Damon Wayans fired mid-season was this "Mr. Monopoly" sketch where Wayans decided before the show went live to play his cop character as flamboyantly gay. Wayans later said that Eddie Murphy previously warned him he better come up with his own sketch ideas or the other writers were going to write him as stereotypical black characters. "Everything Eddie said came true." As for why Wayans chose this particular moment to rebel, he said, "I snapped. I just did not care. I purposefully did that because I wanted [Lorne Michaels] to fire me," which host Griffin Dunne said he saw occur literally right after they all walked off stage.](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2065957362817724493/amplify_video_thumb/2065957251052175360/img/UIrlDEo9tJiOJYYF.jpg)

While filming the SEINFELD episode "The Abstinence", Jerry hadn't seen what Michael Richards's constant cigar smoking makeup looked like. Combined with Richards never going full force during rehearsals, and only seeing his real performance during the live taping, Jerry couldn't help but break character 😂

The biggest crash out on live tv has to be when Andrew "Dice" Clay was interviewed on CNN in 2003 by anchor Allan Chernoff. Chernoff suggested Dice's career had fallen off in recent years and the comedian did not take it lightly 🔥 Years later Dice commented on what happened and said, "The guy was looking to insult me, so I destroyed him."

When Martin Lawrence hosted SNL in 1994, he was banned from ever hosting again because he decided to do his raw standup jokes instead of the scripted monologue. It was replaced with a chyron explaining what happened when the episode aired, as you see below. I then spliced in the controversial monologue that only made it to the East Coast feed and was never seen again.

While filming SEINFELD's "The Marine Biologist" episode, the writers felt the ending didn't work, and last minute realized they could connect Kramer's storyline of hitting golf balls into the ocean and George's storyline of attempting to save a beached whale. At 2AM, they wrote Jason Alexander's speech that would close out the episode, and handed it to him the following morning, thirty minutes before the scene would have to be taped. Alexander said "No problem", quickly memorized the dialogue, and nailed the scene in one take 🔥 it's still absolutely insane he never won an Emmy for playing George Costanza

When Will Ferrell and Jeff Goldblum went live with SNL's "Space: The Infinite Frontier with Harry Caray" sketch, the first part was scripted and on cue cards for both actors, but halfway through, Ferrell started improv'ing insane questions and you can see Goldblum holding on for dear life answering them 😂 I forget how good this era of SNL really was
