We don’t talk enough about how Tatis looked like one of the most dangerous hitters in the 2024 playoffs then all of a sudden in the 2025 season he goes to a noticeably shortened setup. Likely with the influence of his dad telling him to be a more complete hitter. At the time I thought it was a good idea but looking back at it I didn’t realize how negatively it would impact him.

If you look at the Xander play he was looking to throw to first instead of home. Might have been in between and that indecision cost him the bobble. Pretty inexcusable from a veteran player.

Camp swinging out of his shoes first two pitches then shortening up with 2 strikes. Good baseball.

Leo just doubled and already has a walk today. He is 18 he is a better prospect than Merrill. I will never forgive Preller for trading him for someone not named Ronald Acuña Jr.

Stuff like this goes unnoticed but this is really quality leadership from Xander. He gives Bowen two hugs and really acknowledges his effort today. As a rookie who isn’t getting much playing time to be seen like that Bowen must be on cloud nine.

4 out of 5 of Jason Adam’s homers allowed this year have come off the fastball. His 4S is at the lowest avg mph of his career at 93.4 mph. The Stuff+ is also at its lowest at 90. With that said I still think there’s a path to success because the slider is a plus pitch. Hide the fastball as much as possible and use the secondaries more. This could lead to more walks but less damage given up.

Look at this Braves fan being in total despair while Mason Miller is bullying the shit outta Rowdy Tellez. His girl is a Padres fan and just happy as hell 🤣.

I’ve been upset a lot about the Padres shortcomings this series but I gotta give a lot of props to Jackson Chourio. Him fouling off this 104 mph dotted on the corner is really impressive. He then laid off the slider below the zone to get to a pitch he could handle. Great player.

I love Tatis man this whole interview is perfect. You will not see heaven if you even think of wanting to trade him as a Padres fan.

My biggest gripe during Preller’s tenure is he has not developed (or kept) a good young controllable starting pitcher yet. My favorite bet to buck this trend is not the two recent 1st round draft picks but it’s a different teenager — Lan-Hong Su.

Nick Pivetta today 4.1 IP, 0 ER, 7 Ks, 1 BB, 2 H, Got up to 64 pitches. 4S was at 92.6 mph which is down 1.5 mph from his avg. Command was good though. Thought he was cooked tbh so this was an encouraging outing.

Fernando Tatis Jr. Top is 2024 and bottom is yesterday. Different pitch locations and not perfectly similar camera angles but IMO he’s not doing things right before contact. He’s not setting himself up to hit for power.

The rookie analysts will point to pre PEDs Tatis but I don’t give a fuck about that. I just want 2024 end of season Tatis back. In his last 26 games including playoffs he hit .324/.367/.735 with 11 bombs. He wasn’t scared to whiff. He was just high leg kicking and nuking balls.

Walker Buehler on August 11th vs the Brewers 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 5 Ks, 2 BB, 3 H Offense got him run support and allowed him to cruise. I am once again asking the offense to step up today.
