Traffic Update - I-70 near Salina (4pm) Westbound traffic is completely stopped. Eastbound has very narrow paths where some vehicles might navigate through, but overall, there are significant stoppages and challenges. Several exits are closed due to jackknifed semis and vehicles sliding into one another, creating blockages. Even tow trucks and KDOT crews are getting stuck. If you’re planning to travel, stay home if possible and check for the latest road conditions. #KSwx

First responders, including myself, are out working traffic crashes and slide-offs due to ice building up on the roadways. It’s been a challenging day, especially here along I-70 near exit 252 in Salina. If you can, stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. Roads are slick, and safety is our top priority—for you and for those responding to emergencies. If I weren’t out here, I’d be staying warm and enjoying a bowl of chili. 🥣 What about you? #KSwx

Just finished partnering with a TV news member to show what we’re dealing with here in Salina during #KSWX. My reach on social media only goes so far, so it’s important to team up with others who can help spread safety information even further. Together, we keep more people informed and safe! Be safe Payton Steiner

This kind of driving can get someone killed. Some folks think it’s no big deal to fly up the shoulder and pass a semi. But that move is reckless, illegal, and flat-out dangerous. Most people don’t realize this, in crashes involving semis, it’s usually not the truck driver who caused it. Studies show cars are at fault 80 to 85 percent of the time. Semis are BIG. They don’t stop quick. Give them space. Be patient. Drive smart. Thanks to Doug Bradley Trucking, Inc. here in Kansas for sharing this video from one of their dash cameras. I’ve partnered with them to help show some of the real dangers their drivers are seeing out there. And a big thank you to all the professional truck drivers out there doing it right. We see you. We appreciate you. #DriveSmart #CMVSafety

It’s December, and we’re switching to our winter uniforms! That means: • Long sleeves with a tucked-in tie. • Felt campaign hats. We’ll wear this look through December, January, and February. Curious about our uniforms? • Class A: Formal blouse for special events. • Class B: Long sleeves with the felt hat in winter. • Class C: Short sleeves with the straw hat in summer. Check out this video where I show how we prepare our felt hats for winter! #KansasHighwayPatrol #WinterUniform
