First clip i am showing from yesterday is the first goal. Now, Wednesday were doing ok before the goal. Battling hard, winning second balls and getting up the pitch. The Svante chance, our best one, was on 4 mins. The first goal ended the contest, and whilst Valery is the main culprit for losing the ball, it came from a chance to get the ball forward for us that we lost. When the ball comes out to Fusire on the right, there is great chance for a quick attack as united are 2vs2 in the final third. Svante & Ugbo should both run to the right side and work the channel. But Svante barely moves and Ugbo runs away from the ball. We end up going back, losing it and conceding. SUFC had 10 shots all game. We gave the ball away 6 times out of the 10 shots. They did not have to work for anything after this moment in the game. It is a Sheffield Derby, you have to simply play the occasion and get it forward and build chances. The difference between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday in the last so many derbies is that we play it like it is just another game and employ the same tactics, whereas SUFC play it as a derby match.

7 minutes into the second half, Diaz deliberately rolls to push his studs into Gass. He's on a yellow card already. This is a nailed-on yellow card. In a Sheffield Derby. Right in front of our dug-out. Charles is the only one who walks towards the incident - but it has no urgency. Why aren't we: a) running to Gass to check he's ok. b) appealing for a foul c) why aren't Danny and the bench stepping forward d) why is no one around the ref this did not even get given as a foul. Imagine this happening at Leeds, or any big PL club. Klopp at Liverpool.

If Gabe Otegbayo had his debut in December and had the opportunity to learn on loan, and he came through making performances as he has in the last 6 or 7 games, and played like this last night, we'd be waxing. Wednesday have been awful in the last 8 games. We hardly have a shot. We have nothing to keep the opposition off us. He was one of the only reasons we are keeping the score down He was outstanding last night. Man of the match by a country mile.

Our first goal last night requires a longer look. It starts in transition with Bannan winning it back on the half way line on the left, and then Johnson recycles to Famewo and then to Beadle. Go through the annotations: 1: Beadle allows Hogan to get right on top of him. This is crucial as it means he is behind Bernard who will be the recipient of the ball 2: because Birmingham are defending deep with a high line (always find this strange), it leaves a lot of space in the middle. 3: Poveda drops back to 4 spaces and just recognises the space behind the defensive drop and holds to recycle. 4: Cadz then pulls off into the 10 space, the red zone - as Rohl calls it. Where I know they work on the reverse wide. Because of the camera change, you can just see Poveda's head on the screen, but he has run from 4 spaces to the right wing. 5: Cadz recognising space against the drop and taking the defender with him. 6: Ugbo holding the ground against the drop to remain in space. This is a high quality team goal that come off the training ground. That's why it's important to accept the keeper having that extra touch and midfielders recycling rather than always playing forward. We were dominated in possession yesterday, but when we did have it, we didn't just launch it - we actually played snappy football - playing in bursts with control.

Games not on Wyscout yet so I can't annotate it. But just wanting to show the first goal back in full. It's a 16 pass move. 9 players involved. Including the keeper. Just under a minute on the ball. It's a wet dream of Rohl playing principles so will save the annotating and going into the analysis till later, but what a goal this is.

A note last night in the first half. We really did play some excellent football. Whilst i know Ugbo is, rightfully, coming under some stick of his lack of goals, he offers so much more to how we play. As does Josh Windass, who I am noticing is just about getting the recognition he deserves from the fans. The play in the first half was very different to the second half when those 2 went off. They both offer so much more insofar as overall game than the other options we have in those areas. A few clips below from key moments in the first half. Windass really did run the show in the final third and build up. He comes out of areas to allow straight passes where he is an option for first time reverse balls. He and Pol have really good chemistry down the right as Josh knows he will overlap and beat his man. The awareness from Josh with scanning that i picked out, allowing for high tempo play into space. A note on data: First half vs second half Passes 193 (87% ACC) vs 159 (78% Acc) xG 2.04 vs 0.42 Penalty area entries: 11 vs 6 From runs: 4 vs 2 Touches in the box: 16 vs 7 Long pass rate: 8.29 vs 13.29 Passes per possession: 4.11 vs 2.96 Wedensday's overall game is so much better when U Our game is so much better when Windass and Ugbo play. I know Smith is scoring and credit to him. But we just dont have the mechanisms to control a game without Ugbo and Josh. We cant get it to the final third in control. This was true and there for all to see for the first 30 minutes of the second half. Hull dominated from 45-70 before they ran out of steam . Our game is so much better when Windass and Ugbo play. I know Smith is scT

As requested by Alex Miller yesterday, a look at our out of possession shape in the first half. 1: (10 secs) - Wednesday in a very narrow high block in a 523 out of possession. It only looked like this when the ball is central. Nowrich rotate (change positions during play) a lot and this narrow block denies central rotation. In this clip, they have had rotation in left back position as the CM has dropped into the area and left back on the last line. 2: 20 secs - When the ball went wide or started to move wide, the full back would advance up the pitch to pressure the full back and press full back to full back, whilst the CBs would come out with the Norwich forwards coming in between the lines, as this ball transitions across the pitch you see Sargent come out and Iorfa following tight. Fusire in this clip has come out to mark full back to full back and creating a makeshift back 4. 3: 47 secs - Wednesday get back into their narrow block shape 4: 56 secs - rotation from the front line form Norwich 5: 58 seconds, Palmer comes out of the back line to pick up the rotation and prevent space between lines. As the player turns to our left, Amass starts to come out to pick up full back to full back on the other side. In summary, Wednesday played their familiar 523 blocking shape out of possession but it was much more proactive in the back 5 than we usually see it, with full backs and Cbs following rotations and stepping out of the backline to prevent space between lines. It worked, first half. Norwich combated it a little better second half. Will get a clip out tomorrow of what they did

Sums up the first half for Cadz. Great in build up. Powerful. Little shift to make space for the shot. Post. Constant threat all the way through the half. Some brilliant bits of movement and pace to get on goal..but can't find the net. However, this is really positive for Owls fans. Showing lots of quality
