PUBLIC NOTICE!! Drone operations in Zimbabwe are regulated under a structured licensing framework administered by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ). Whether you are flying for recreation or commercial purposes, compliance with the applicable licensing requirements is mandatory. Licensing Categories: 1️⃣ VLOS (Visual Line of Sight): Entry-level operations. The drone must remain within 500 metres and in the operator's direct visual line of sight. 2️⃣ E-VLOS (Extended Visual Line of Sight): Permits flights of up to 1,000 metres, provided a trained visual observer assists the pilot. 3️⃣ B-VLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight): Designed for advanced drone operations using specialised equipment such as multispectral sensors. These operations allow longer-range flights but are not intended for general commercial use. 4️⃣ Remote Operator Certificate (ROC): Mandatory for individuals or organisations intending to generate income through drone services. 5️⃣ Air Service Permit: The highest level of operational authorisation, required for full-scale commercial activities, including aerial photography, surveying, filming, mapping, and other aviation-related services. Each licensing category carries progressively higher training, operational, and equipment standards to ensure aviation safety and regulatory compliance. Operating a drone without the appropriate authorisation may result in substantial fines, confiscation of equipment, and other legal penalties. CAAZ

There is an important misconception circulating regarding the #CAB3 consultation process. The figure of 300,000 submissions does not mean that only 300,000 Zimbabweans participated. A submission is not the same as an individual participant. Many submissions were made on behalf of large constituencies, organisations, and communities.
