A Muslim woman was attacked with a glass bottle. Walking home from work through Glasgow city centre. Alone. Just past midnight. Four men surrounded her. One smashed a bottle over her head. They told her to take off her hijab. They called her a dirty P**i. They told her this was their country, and to go home. She wears hijab. That's why she was a target. There's a word for using violence to terrorise people for who they are. They'll use it about us. They won't use it about this. A taxi driver saw it. He shouted for someone to call 999. He pulled her into his car. She was shaking, saying "oh my god", in shock. She went to hospital. She needed stitches. Then Police Scotland gave their account. A disturbance involving a group of youths. The youths had made off. No one required medical treatment. They called them youths. We call them men who terrorised a woman. This isn't an isolated incident anymore. It's a pattern. Last month in Edinburgh, five Muslim men were attacked with a machete after leaving prayers at Broomhouse Mosque. The man charged faces ten terrorism-linked offences. Every charge carries a terrorist connection. This week on Renfield Street, a woman was struck with a bottle for wearing a hijab. And it became a disturbance. Each incident gets reported as a standalone story. Local news. Move on. But zoom out and the pattern is unmistakable. And it falls hardest on women. 1 in 5 Muslim women have experienced a hate incident in the last year. 80% never report it. Hate aimed at Muslim women is more likely to carry sexual aggression than hate aimed at men. On our own platform, we documented 70 anti-Muslim incidents in May. In June: 105. A 50% rise in a single month. Still no COBRA meeting. Still no renewed hate crime action plan. The last one expired in 2020. Still the funding we were promised comes with strings. Criticise the government, and it can be pulled. Homes. Families. Places of worship. Vehicles. All of it under attack, from every angle. The bottle on Renfield Street wasn't thrown in a vacuum. It was thrown in an atmosphere where a woman in hijab is told, to her face, that this isn't her country. Except it is her country. She's a British woman. Walking home from a British job. Attacked by men who've been told hatred is patriotism. The footage went viral because a taxi driver filmed it. But how many attacks aren't filmed? How many women change their route home? How many take the hijab off rather than risk it? Those are the victories they're really after. It's the same hostility. It just changes address. On the record, it's a disturbance. On the street, it's a bottle to a woman's skull. A Muslim man stopped his car and pulled her to safety. His name is Zack Aziz. He's the hero of this story. They won't call him that either. Four men terrorised a woman in Glasgow. Police called it a disturbance. No one, they said, required medical treatment. She was in hospital getting stitches as they said it. The director of a film where a vigilante executes an entire Muslim family went on Piers Morgan to defend it. Uwe Boll said the vigilante only kills criminals. Mehdi Hasan said that's false. He killed an entire family. Boll tried to argue, then admitted it. The vigilante shoots the whole family. Hasan asked if they were all criminals. Was the daughter a criminal? Was the sister a criminal? Boll's answer: no, but she was there. She witnessed the rape and didn't object to it. Hasan's response: so you're defending killing people for holding views you don't like. Boll's only defence: it's a fictional movie. An entire family, killed on screen, because of one man's crime. Boll then said people are fed up with the situation, as if that spoke for everyone who watches the film. Hasan's reply: that's not speaking for anyone. People are fed up with Jeffrey Epstein too. That doesn't mean they go and kill Donald Trump and Republicans. We've already seen where this leads. Five men attacked with a machete in Edinburgh. 19 June. Two had just left prayers at Broomhouse Mosque. Three hospitalised. Lewis Hawkes charged. Ten terrorism-linked offences. Every charge carrying a terrorist connection aggravator. Crown Office confirmed. Days earlier, Rupert Lowe published his report claiming a link between grooming gangs and Islam. While he was being arrested, Hawkes was recorded saying: "Protecting the country from these Muslim bastards raping our young daughters." And even then, no one called it what it was. They led with "it appears." We've seen it in Belfast too. Hit lists marked migrant homes. Families fled as houses next door burned. Anti-Islam murals had gone up before a brick was thrown. Now Citizen Vigilante has been streamed to over 200 million people, with Elon Musk talking about funding a sequel. And if it couldn't get any worse, a Citizen Vigilante account appeared on X, posting in the voice of the film's killer, to over 280,000 views: "I created this account so Patriots can learn about anti-Islam citizen vigilantism. Join me in our American Mission to defeat Islam. We are going to take our country back." Asked why the film exists, the same account replied: "It exists to strike fear in the heart of Muslims. Which it has." Then it quote-shared CCTV of a mosque fire in Blackburn, with the words: "It would be a damn shame if every one of them burned down." A film. Then an account. Then a real mosque, named, with a threat attached. So what happens now? When we're shot in our homes, in our mosques, in the car parks, will that just "appear" to be anti-Muslim too? We've written to Ofcom asking it to investigate whether X's distribution of this film meets its duties under the Online Safety Act. We hope you do too. A Muslim family's home was smashed in Walsall this week. Their car too. Their children were inside. They reported it. One family. No response. It is not the first time this town has been the address. Last October, a Sikh woman was followed home from the bus in Walsall. A man forced his way in. He raped her, repeatedly calling her an effing Muslim bitch. She told him she was not Muslim. It did not matter. The hostility doesn't check. It sees a face and decides. John Ashby. Jailed for life. This week, in Parliament, Shockat Adam MP stood up and named it. He told the House his children are kicking every ball of England's World Cup campaign — and that as a Muslim parent, he is afraid for their safety in this country. He listed why. The Sikh woman in Walsall, raped as an "effing Muslim bitch." No condemnation from a Minister at the despatch box. The Unite the Kingdom march openly calling for Muslims to be expelled. No ministerial statement. Five Muslim men stabbed on the streets of Edinburgh. No statement. No COBRA. No solidarity. Then he asked: "What does this silence say to my children?" The Prime Minister said he wants his children to feel safe, and that an attack on one is an attack on all. He did not name Walsall. He did not name Edinburgh. He did not name the march. He did not say the word. Now look at what this country does when it decides a threat is real. 29 April 2026. Two Jewish men stabbed in Golders Green. COBRA convened the same day. The Prime Minister visited the scene. Threat level raised to severe. A 100-officer task force deployed. This was the right response. It was correct. The threat was real. Antisemitism is real. The state moved. In Walsall, a family's home and car were destroyed with their children inside. No COBRA. No statement. No task force. No one will even name it. We are not asking for less protection for anyone. We are asking for the same. So when the children in that house ask if they are safe, there is an answer.
