Karol G talks about a relationship in which her partner did not like celebrating his birthday with her and, every year, found an excuse to avoid spending that date with her. She shares this during a confession at the Confessionario of the LUX TOUR tonight in California. “What a relief to meet you. We already knew each other from before, but now it feels like a whole new level of friendship. I’m going to confess something to you. I was in a relationship where that person didn’t like celebrating his birthday with me. And that always seemed strange to me, because who wouldn’t want to spend that date with the person they are with? The most curious thing is that this happened every year. There was always a different excuse. Over time, I started to notice this pattern and kind of got used to it, but it still bothered me. To me, even if someone doesn’t like birthdays, it should still be important to want to share that moment with the person by your side. The most striking moment was that, in the last year, we already had everything ready to travel and celebrate in another part of the world, but it didn’t end up happening. This made me realize even more how much it had already become a pattern of lack of consideration.”

ROSALÍA interrupts her show in Milan and cancels it after not feeling well. It is the first time in her career that she cancels a performance due to health reasons. “I tried to do this show from the very beginning even though I’ve been sick. I’ve had, like, really severe food poisoning and I tried to push through until the end, but I’m feeling extremely unwell. I’ve been throwing up backstage, and I really want to give the best show, and I’m basically on the floor trying my best. I can try to continue, but at some point I might have to stop. I’m extremely sick, and I’m really trying, I’ll push as much as I can, but if we have to stop, we might have to if I physically can’t continue. I’m in pain.”

ROSALÍA speaks for the first time about what happened that forced her to postpone three LUX TOUR shows: “It’s such a long, long journey to see you all here. It’s such a lovely feeling to be able to perform for you. Thank you for being so… Thank you. It’s a very… it’s a very, very… let me speak. Thank you for understanding. And that the loved ones need to come first. And I think that… yeah… we live… But when something unexpected and painful happens to you, it can be hard to keep going. But I truly believe that doing this is worth it. And I truly believe that me coming and sharing this with you, and you sharing it with me… I will do it with all the love that I have. And maybe it will be a little short, but you can take this with you. And hopefully, you will be able to take it with you again. To be honest, I don’t know what would make me happier. And I love you so much.”

ROSALÍA talks about what it was like to learn 13 languages to sing the songs on her new album “LUX”. “I speak a little Catalan because it’s my mother tongue. I speak a little Spanish and barely any English, but, you know… I love learning. I love learning things. So I wanted to learn different languages for a long time. I’ve been practicing on Duolingo, you know. But sometimes I’m like, ‘I need to do more.’ So while I was trying to figure out what the concept would be, because I was curious about learning from other cultures and how spirituality can be understood in many different places around the world in different ways, I was learning about different saints from all over the world. And I was reading, reading, reading so many hagiographies, hagiographies. Then I thought, ‘OK, let me put a map on the wall.’ Let me pin different stories, different women from around the world. And if I was making a song inspired by Joan of Arc, then I would do it in French. So depending on the story I wanted to reference, I would use one language or another. And then I would write about 20 different verse options and send them to a translator, a proper translator, get them back, tweak things, record, and then send them to people who would correct the pronunciation, all of it.”
