As good of a horse race you will ever see! My American Racing friends, I know I bang on about jump racing, and I get that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if you haven’t watched yesterday’s King George VI Chase at Kempton Park, do yourself a favor and take just one minute out of your day to watch the last 4 fences (start at the 5-minute mark). Eight horses, separated by just a few lengths, attacking each fence, over 3 miles...majestic! Fantastic call by Mark Johnson , who, as some of you may remember, used to call the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. Before They Were Stars........Curlin ✨ Gulfstream Park - 2007 MSW 7 Furlongs - Curlin went off the 2/1 Fav Who remembers Curlin's unforgettable debut? 🐎 Were you in the crowd witnessing his first steps to greatness? 🧐 Curlin ran a bit greenly, but drew away powerfully, signaling his future potential. The internal splits and final time proved quite impressive for a completely inexperienced race horse (:22 3/5, :45 2/5, 1:09 4/5, 1:22 1/5 seconds for 7 Furlongs.) "Curlin Romped" - Larry Collmus By the time he retired, he was an all-time great and on January 26, 2009, Curlin won the Eclipse Award for older male horse of the year and for the second year in a row was named Horse of the Year. He joined Secretariat, Forego, Affirmed and Cigar as the only horses to win the award consecutively since the Eclipse Awards began in 1971.
