“What Bridget Phillipson has done is displace 40,000 children…find places elsewhere either because their school has closed or they don’t have the money to pay VAT. The reason why those taxes were put in place was to fund 6.5k more teachers. We have 2k fewer teachers”. Kemi Badenoch

![“The Gov pledged at the last GE that [VAT on private school fees] would pay for 6,500 new teachers in state schools. Over the past year, this Gov has seen the number of teachers in state schools drop by more than 400. How can minus 400 be an addition?” Michael Gove](https://image.24vids.com/tw-1978058631380673004/amplify_video_thumb/1978058525138935808/img/GM1TWh7iB7dwdGfc.jpg)

As Keir Starmer cried for himself at the end of his resignation speech, I thought about the children, parents and staff that he set out to hurt with VAT on school fees. The education of children continues to be disrupted as schools close. Not once has he thought of them.

![“This Gov is picking quite a deliberate fight on a way of life. VAT on private school fees…they knew [they wouldn’t hire more teachers]. They just didn’t like that people used private education. Quite a pernicious, deliberate socialist attack on our way of life.” John O'Connell](https://image.24vids.com/tw-1999991758193557613/amplify_video_thumb/1999991667554750466/img/yPz3T3fKKmqMb4z2.jpg)

“By taxing education, Labour has forced private schools to close their doors & the children have to find a place in the state sector, >40k of them. The 6,500 teachers Bridget Phillipson promised would be paid by VAT? Nowhere to be seen.” Colin Brazier Outpost Studios

“She (Rachel Reeves) knew that when she taxed the private schools that would mean that the private school kids are going to have to come into the public schools and she was going to lose revenue on it. She didn’t care. Because it’s all about destroy destroy destroy.”

![“Spiteful things that [Labour] have done… like putting VAT on private schooling. These aren’t all rich people…a lot of children have been tossed out of their school. It’s a vindictive piece of work. It’s the nastiest thing I think they’ve done.” Sir John Major.](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2071301922275938699/amplify_video_thumb/2071301826515709953/img/tDczi0YJYIf-Hxkr.jpg)
“VAT on private schools, what’s it going to bring in for goodness sake? Don’t punish private schools when the parents who are putting their kids into private school are doing a service to the country… because they are not taking up the state resource.” Labour MP Karl Turner MP

“The private school exodus has begun and teachers are asking whether the government got its numbers wrong. In just one year, over 13,000 children have left the independent sector, the steepest drop in over a decade, and headteachers say the cause is clear: VAT on school fees.”

Ed Miliband in conversation with David Kynaston discussing how VAT on private school fees will: “shrink the sector” and “hit the sector quite seriously” which will include the closure of schools. No wonder the Gov needs 4 KCs to defend them from their spiteful tax raid.
