Bad news! An expansive plume of dust from the Sahara Desert is expected to hit Jamaica on Monday, July 10, 2023, raising an alarm for people who suffer from dust related allergies, asthma, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.

Unfortunately, a sunny day turned to tragedy at 12:57 PM today, Wednesday, November 12, 2025. A man jumped from the back of a police vehicle into the murky Rio Cobre while crossing Flat Bridge. He did not survive, and his body was later found downstream.

I don’t think Jamaicans realize how lucky we were that Melissa was tracking so far south of us while moving east to west. By the time she turned &amp; passed north, she had weakened to a Category 4, but her southern side hit southeast Jamaica, which is why Tuesday night was so rough.
