Six years ago today, Hurricane Dorian made one of the strongest landfalls ever observed in the Atlantic, crashing ashore Grand Abaco as an ear-splitting 185mph category 5. It would go on to stall over the NW Bahamas for the better part of 24 hours, mostly at/near C5 intensity. Dorian still remains among the most visually appealing hurricanes; a function of its incredible symmetry and low tropopause height.
