State of Washington is investigating We Heart Seattle for picking up the needles and fentanyl foil they hand out. For six years we’ve removed hundreds of thousands of pieces of used drug paraphernalia from Seattle parks, greenbelts, and neighborhoods, the exact litter created by government-funded distribution programs. Now L&I is investigating us for “improperly” collecting the same needles and foil that officials freely distribute and then leave for communities to deal with. This bureaucratic overreach will drain time and resources meant for cleanups and outreach. If you believe this is hypocritical and want the work to continue, support us today: We pick up what they drop. Don’t let them stop us.

The Mayor of Seattle walked out on neighbors after some pleaded to answer submitted public safety questions. To Mayor Katie B. Wilson you can look to other cities who are making bold changes. Here they are 👇🏼This is the type of action neighbors want. 👇🏼 Following other major cities like SF, PDX, San Jose: 1: Defund government funded drug paraphernalia such as glass pipes and foils in the name of harm reduction (SF Model) 2: Budget reform to fund clean and sober housing options (SF Model) 3: Family Unification / Tickets Home (PDX Model) 4: Defund diversion and put money towards more parole officers and process (SF Model) 5: Enrollment in treatment plan to receive cash and food benefits if *new* to city (Prop F- SF Model) 6: Outlaw all tents in parks and on sidewalks (Tukwila, Burien, Renton, Auburn, Everett) 7: 3 strikes for low level crimes: Take a felony or 6-months mandated treatment (Prop 36 – SF Model) 8: 3 strikes for service resistant / following San Jose policy on “responsibility to accept shetler” (San Jose Model)

NEW: Our crew went inside this Seattle camp. This is what “no rules” actually looks like. M.S.W treat public space like an anything-goes playground. What we saw: trespassing, vandalism, off-leash aggressive dogs, narcotics in the open. Most of it is already illegal. Rep. Pramila Jayapal doesn’t want people arrested for living in public spaces. That policy does not stay theoretical. It shows up as this. Arrest for the crimes. Offer treatment. Public spaces are not a campground. Jeremy Harris Spencer Pratt T Wolf 🌁

After multiple formal requests during her campaign and after she was elected, Mayor Wilson has ignored us. She once told me, “I heard things about you.” Last night she wouldn’t take questions and then walked away from our volunteers who followed her out asking for a few minutes. That’s not leadership. Our volunteers deserve better. We’re still here, ready to help her make the bold changes Seattle needs. The door is open. Mayor Katie B. Wilson 😭💔

Watch for yourself what “affordable housing” or “housing first” looks like in Seattle. Rosa hasn’t slept in her apartment in over a year and instead lives on the streets where we met. She invited me into her home to see why she doesn’t sleep there. DESC a 100M NPO keeps building more and more housing projects without first investing in the need for supportive services they claim to offer (and on your tax paying dollar). 👇🏼Rosa is educating voters and I hope you listen to her. During this week’s cleanup we found a 9-month-old baby & mom living in a tent in the park. Mom has already cycled through the best family shelter programs in the county… yet she’s still on the streets. Immediate needs: clothes, food & diapers. She wants a low-barrier (illegal drugs allowed) tiny home. Multiple agencies referred her to the cities’s Unified Care Team. Pallet Shelters are literally across the street. We’ll make daily contact & neighbors are stepping up. This is why “housing first” fails families. Treatment & accountability first saves lives. Mayor Katie B. A woman hadn’t left her box truck in over 3 years. Her garbage and human waste buckets were no longer being slipped through her door for her homeless neighbor to collect and dispose. He asked me for help. After she refused all services, we called for a wellness check today. First time in 5+ years I’ve seen someone with severe mental illness taken against their will. How bad does it have to get? This bad 👇Thank You Seattle Police Department Seattle Fire Dept.

We Heart Seattle needs your help! 👇🏼 The state is investigating us for “improper handling of drug needles and fentanyl foil” in our parks. The process is expected to take months, our temp agency is under investigation as well. We are being asked to produce a long list of documents including “disciplinary action” files. 🤦♀️ OSHA_DOL This is a good time to donate. We need your support.

So much for the American Dream. This small landlord couple is speaking out on Seattle and Washington’s failed policies. Crime pushed out their renters. Now the city is citing them for the vandalism left behind. One personal story that exposes every policy failure. 👇🏼

This is Permanent Supportive “Housing First” in Seattle on full display. Just three weeks ago, (intellectually disabled) Jacob was placed in a brand new DESC Housing project and has been assaulted, offered illegal drugs, and harassed by drug addicted and violent neighbors. NEW! The Mayor Katie B. Wilson just postponed indefinitely the first scheduled encampment sweep under her leadership. People in these tents need intervention to treat addiction and mental illness. I hope our new mayor can see for her own eyes this isn’t a shelter or housing crisis and act compassionately and urgently. There are places to go, to treat, to house with pathways to self-sufficiency.

I led Fox News digital through four Seattle parks recently and showcased the harm open air drug scenes have on the community. The human suffering and environmental decimation was shocking to them. The foil that our government hands out to addicts to smoke fentanyl pollutes our shared spaces. Full article in comments.
