SATURDAY RAIN CHANCE: Scattered rain and storms are expected overnight and very early Saturday morning. Don't be surprised if heavy rain, thunder and lightning wake you up overnight/very early Saturday morning! The rest of Saturday looks mainly dry minus a spotty shower or storm.

7:15pm - A new Tornado Warning has been issued for this lone supercell moving into jack and Montague counties until 8pm. This storm has had a history of producing large hail and low-level rotation. It is moving somewhat slowly, at 20mph southeast.

Still no severe weather, but very heavy rain. Much of the heaviest rain is now east of the metroplex. We will continue to see the rain coverage go down through the evening.

Scattered thunderstorms on Mother's Day: A few strong to severe storms are possible in the afternoon with up to half-dollar size hail and 60mph wind gusts being the main risks. If you have outdoor plans with mom, please keep this timeline in mind.

A cold front will slowly move through the area today and tonight. Isolated storms will be possible late afternoon/evening from DFW to the northeast. Coverage will be low as storms will struggle to develop. An isolated storm could be strong, but most stay rain-free. #wfaaweather

2:45 PM Radar Update: Areas of light sleet and light snow continue across North Texas. Ground temperatures are still in the upper 30's and 40's so that's what's keeping our streets from completely icing over just yet! #txwx

Rain and thunderstorms continue move out of NTX this evening.

The strongest thunderstorm activity is pushing south of North Texas tonight. Lingering rain and rumbles of thunder behind this are still possible tonight, but the severe weather threat for North Texas is diminishing.

After the chance of scattered storms Friday afternoon and evening, Friday night looks quiet in NTX. By early Saturday, another round of showers and storms will roll in. The severe risk with this looks very low. Saturday morning will have scattered rain, some heavy at times.

3:30PM: Watching developing storms well south of the metroplex. This area will have the highest chance of heavy rain, small hail and gusty winds over the next several hours. I'm not excluding the metroplex from the rain chance, it's just much better the farther south you go.

4:20 PM Radar Update: Thundersleet is coming into Hillsboro! Lightning strikes are decreasing though. We're still seeing slight and light snow across the metroplex. #txwx

Scattered rain and a few thunderstorms will roll in later tonight. Western sections of NTX will have the stronger storm potential nd heavier rain. Much of this weakens by the time it gets to the metroplex overnight and into early Thursday morning.

Friday &amp; Saturday rain: a weakening segment of storms moves southeast into NTX Friday evening. A more widespread batch of heavier rain develops overnight Friday into Saturday morning. This is not expected to be severe, but Saturday morning and early afternoon plans will be wet.

A heavy downpour with thunder and lightning in SE Dallas County, parts of Ellis and Kaufman Counties. Not severe.

Lots of fluctuations between precip types (rain/sleet/snow) near the I-20 corridor. It's mainly snow and sleet near US-380 and north. That's where totals are already approaching 3"-4".. This back-and-forth continues before a transition to all snow happens tonight #wfaaweather
