Saharan dust has made it to the Texas coastline this morning. It'll make its way to North Texas as the day goes on. It won't look like a wall of dust, but rather a haze that settles in. It could trigger allergy-like symptoms. Dust also brings colorful sunrise and sunsets.

7/16/26 3:15pm update - Just isolated showers and a few rumbles of thunder. No severe weather, but a few of these have heavy rain.

7/15 2:05pm update: Scattered rain is moving north into portions of the metroplex. Some heavy downpours and a little lightning with these. These are not severe.

7/15 3pm: Scattered showers lifting north. Nothing crazy here!

7/12 7:25pm update - the strongest storm and heaviest rain right now is in eastern Dallas County and Rockwall County. This isn't severe, but winds up to 40mph and very heavy rain are expected with this as it moves southeast.

7/12 8:40pm update - The heaviest rain is now southeast of the metroplex and continues to press southeastward this evening. We haven't had any severe weather, and I don't expect that to change.

7/12 5:30 pm update - scattered storms continue to drift south this evening. Not everyone will cash in on rain with this (see the scattered nature of them). Some of you will get a good soaker and some gusty winds.

3:45pm 7/12 - Scattered storm coverage has increased in our Red River counties. We expect thunderstorm coverage to increase for more of North Texas as this shifts south through the afternoon and evening.

7/12 1:40PM Scattered storms will increase in coverage this afternoon and evening. Not everyone gets rain today. Some of the storms will have gusty winds and very heavy rain.

7/12 6:30pm update - scattered storms still popping up across parts of NTX including the metroplex. Severe weather risk remains very low (gusty winds), but heavy rain is expected with these storms.

Today's Thunderstorm Timing: Highest storm coverage happens late morning through the early afternoon. 50-60 mph wind gusts and pea to quarter-size hail will be possible along the leading edge of these storms. Not everyone sees severe weather. The severe risk ends in the evening.

Scattered showers and storms Monday: The highest coverage will be in our Red River counties. The best chance is in the morning and early afternoon. Heavy rain and gusty winds will accompany some of these storms.

7:15pm - A new Tornado Warning has been issued for this lone supercell moving into jack and Montague counties until 8pm. This storm has had a history of producing large hail and low-level rotation. It is moving somewhat slowly, at 20mph southeast.

SATURDAY RAIN CHANCE: Scattered rain and storms are expected overnight and very early Saturday morning. Don't be surprised if heavy rain, thunder and lightning wake you up overnight/very early Saturday morning! The rest of Saturday looks mainly dry minus a spotty shower or storm.

Rian chances go up on Sunday. Scattered rain &amp; storms will be on and off through the day... Not 100% coverage all day. There will be dry hours. Rain chances climb more late Sunday through Monday morning as a cold front comes in. Heavy rain &amp; gusty winds with some of the storms.

2:45 PM Radar Update: Areas of light sleet and light snow continue across North Texas. Ground temperatures are still in the upper 30's and 40's so that's what's keeping our streets from completely icing over just yet! #txwx

The severe thunderstorm warning has expired. This storm could still produce some 40+mph wind gusts. Here's the track.

A cold front will slowly move through the area today and tonight. Isolated storms will be possible late afternoon/evening from DFW to the northeast. Coverage will be low as storms will struggle to develop. An isolated storm could be strong, but most stay rain-free. #wfaaweather

12:05pm-Scattered thunderstorms are moving into DFW. These are well sub-severe but may contain brief heavy rainfall, active lightning, and some gusty winds.

Isolated to scattered showers and storms are possible on Saturday. There will be many dry hours and the slightly higher coverage of rain will be south and east of the metroplex.

Latest Timecast check for Tuesday's @WFAA weather alert day. Storms could be on approach from the Red River in the morning hours. Around midday, storms should begin rolling through most of DFW. A few could be strong to severe with winds/hail. This will begin to clear south, late.

Rain &amp; storm chances go up overnight with higher coverage west of the metroplex. Showers &amp; storms will move from west to east overnight into Friday morning. Gusty winds and heavy rain will accompany some of the stronger storms. This will linger for some through Friday morning.

Breakfast with mom should be fine! Mid to late afternoon, storms start to pop up with a cold front. These linger into the evening and could be severe with damaging wind gusts 60+ and quarter to golf ball size hail in the strongest storms. Not everyone sees strong storms Sunday.
