No one will convince me this entire sequence wasn’t a great bit of slapstick/visual comedy. Whoever storyboarded this did fantastic work with playing with the setting and the facial expressions of Francis. This was different from the brand of slapstick you see the Minions do.

No joke, Lamput is genuinely one of the best slapstick cartoons of the 2010’s. I’ve said this before, but I don’t think there was a cartoon that I personally felt could was a true spiritual successor to Tom and Jerry until this. THIS is masterful, aspiring visual comedy.

We really don’t get nearly enough animated commercials that look on par with a feature film as much as we used to. It was noticeably a lot of the cereal commercials that looked so high quality. Like this Frosted Flakes commercial plays like a theatrical short.

I know Daffy’s Rhapsody gets a ton of praise when it comes to the Reel FX Looney Tunes shorts but honestly I think I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Cat deserves just as much recognition because it basically laid the groundwork in a lot of ways for the former.
