“If colonialism had been such a terrible thing, as these books claimed, then formerly colonized places should have sprung to vigorous life the moment the colonizers were sent packing. Even allowing for a seemly pause to recover from the alleged traumas of colonialism, it should not have taken more than a decade or so for the fruits of decolonization to be harvested. Germany and Japan, after all, had been laid waste by the war and were quickly becoming democratic and wealthy by the late 1950s. Zanzibar should not have been far behind…” -Bruce Gilley, The Case for Colonialism

Remember, this horrific chant is part of Mandela's legacy, and something he supported In the video below, he says, "We the members of MK have pledged ourselves to kill them. Kill them, the Boer" MK was the terror group he founded. He refused to renounce violence as a political tactic, and so remained imprisoned. Meanwhile his wife set even children on fire as part of her necklacing campaign, and the MK launched a massive bombing campaign that left thousands dead and injured And now the South Africa he created is known around the world for the "Kill the Boer" chant in which he participated

I'm excited to announce a new project: The Old World Show, where I'll tell the tales of the great adventurers and families of the world that used to exist, from the First Families of Virginia and British peerage to the men who made the empire! This is episode 1, about Sir James Brooke, the White Rajah of Sarawak. In it, I tell his story from the time of his birth in the glorious Raj of the East India Company to his privately funded and high-stakes battle against poison blow-dart-wielding headhunters in the steaming jungles of Borneo to become a Rajah, a feat never equalled by any other European. It’s an exciting tale of stormed barricades, gunboat diplomacy with a private yacht, and bravery in the face of immense adversity. This will mainly be posted to other platforms, where I'm setting up the channels under the name The Old World Show (check it out!). But, I wanted to share the first episode here so you can check it out!
