In this viral video, Baltimore native Jeremiah George surprised a few Navy midshipmen during a push-up battle. Little did they know, George tore both of his ACLs; one in 2024 and the other last year. Despite those injuries, he continues to perform what he calls the "12 O'Clock Pushups." Baltimore City is taking new steps to crack down on illegal dirt bike activity. After nearly 70 years in the community, Eastpoint Mall is set to close Aug. 31, according to vendors inside the shopping center. Several stores have begun holding clearance sales as business owners search for new locations. Vendors tell WJZ they were recently informed of the closure and are now scrambling to plan their next move. Opened in 1956, Eastpoint Mall is considered one of Baltimore's first shopping centers. A Baltimore native is making history in gymnastics. Kyrstin Johnson, a Temple University gymnast, became the first gymnast ever to perform during halftime at a National Women's Soccer League professional soccer match, taking the field at NJ/NY Gotham FC in April. The milestone comes after a standout 2024 season in which Johnson won gold, silver and bronze medals at the USA Gymnastics National Championships. While she was a student at Talladega College, she set the HBCU all-time vault record with a score of 9.925 and became the first HBCU gymnast to earn three medals at a single national meet. Several of Johnson's routines have also gone viral on social media, with one performance drawing more than 9 million views. Johnson, who holds a 3.8 GPA, is currently in the NCAA transfer portal with one season of eligibility remaining. A Baltimore native is going viral for celebrating her college graduation in a way unique way. Latia Carter, a recent Coppin State University graduate, earned her bachelor's degree with honors in computer science and mathematics last month. The 25-year-old first-generation college graduate marked the achievement by posting a rap video about her journey. The video has reached more than 1.3 million views and helped her gain more than 10,000 followers. Carter says the response has led to job opportunities, speaking engagements and interview requests. Some Howard County residents say they’ve reached their breaking point after years of golf balls damaging their homes in an Elkridge neighborhood. Neighbors living near The Timbers at Troy Golf Course say golf balls have shattered windows, damaged siding and patios, and even landed dangerously close to family members. One homeowner says a ball crashed through a window while his daughter and her friend were sitting nearby. Residents say they’ve asked Howard County for solutions, including protective netting, but so far, no action has been taken. They say they’re open to other options and just want to feel safe in their homes again. Morgan State University researchers are developing a new alert system designed to help save the lives of road workers. As our Janay Reece reports, the “Bear Alert” system uses sensors, flashing lights, and wearable vibration devices to warn crews when speeding or erratic vehicles are approaching work zones.
