“It was such a life-altering, mind-fucking thing.” I just watched a video that popped up in my YouTube feed of a man discussing his genital surgery 5 years post-op. I don’t normally watch these videos anymore. I’ve seen enough. It’s horrific. These men are victims of a predatory medical system. And when they were transitioned as children, the horror is almost beyond comprehension. My son calls it “cosmic horror.” Lovecraftian-level horror that we, as a society, promote and celebrate. Anyway, I watched the video. It was unbearably sad. I don’t know this dude or his whole story - just this video. (Maybe he’s a terrible dude, but I’m just talking about this video.) The man hasn’t had sex in years. Dilation feels like razor blades inside him, so he stopped a while back. He says he probably would have committed su*c*de but for all the other men in the same situation who have contacted him, making him feel less alone and giving him a sense of purpose. So great, we’ve created a community of these medically-harmed men. The guy in this video goes on to say at some point that having the surgery was still a good idea, he just had that wrong kind. He’s still stuck in a dream that somehow this whole insane project of switching sexes could have worked out for him. And I don’t even know if I wish for him to understand the full truth that the project was doomed from the start. Would he survive such a realization? And then the references to having these surgeries during COVID. Don’t we all have family members whose surgeries were delayed or canceled during the pandemic? But we didn’t slow our roll on the castration surgeries one bit. I know all of you know all this. I know all this. It’s just all so dark and bleak. After all these years of fighting this, I still feel like I need to open my windows and scream: THIS IS NOT MEDICINE! WE ARE CASTRATING MEN AND REMOVING GIRLS’ BREASTS. THEY CALL IT KINDNESS. WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE It’s a miracle that I mange to seem sane. How do you remain sane in such world?

Ezra Klein calls the belief that women have a right to single-sex sports & spaces “fundamentally and morally wrong.” He admits most Americans disagree, yet lacks the theory of mind to imagine that millions might support single-sex spaces for reasons other than hatred or ignorance. He asks Ta-Nehisi Coates if he should try and win us over or compromise with us. This is the wrong question Ezra Klein. You need to first talk directly to us and try to understand our position. If Klein really wants to lead Democrats out of the wilderness, he needs to find the courage to invite women in the Democratic Party who disagree with him onto his podcast and actually hear our side. Kara Dansky is an obvious choice and would be a stellar guest. On a side note: Coates’s answer to all this is to talk about the Reconstruction?!?

How gender kills everything you love part 6,832: “Girls to the front!” It was intoxicating to be a 90’s girl and into punk/grunge. Bikini Kill was there (alongside PJ Harvey, Liz Phair, Sleater-Kinney, The Breeders, Belly, Team Dresch) to show me I could love alt rock and not be doomed to male-centered lyrics and scary mosh pits. For those not familiar, the front of many shows would be these male-dominated spaces where boys and men would crash aggressively, but in a fun way, into each other. This meant women ended up in the back. At Bikini Kill shows, they would call for “girls to the front.” It was really a political message as well as an attempt to change who controlled the space at the shows. Women and girls could be right next to the band without having to physically endanger ourselves. It was an explicit acknowledgement that sex matters. It meant something to me. And now I read that 30 years later Bikini Kill can’t even bring themselves to demand space for girls at a women-centered festival? Fuck that Bikini Kill. Your younger selves would have seen through this bullshit and fought for girls. You’ve been dazzled by the genderwoo into giving up our words, our rights and our space. And for what? Some pittance. Some measly social cred. For NOTHING. Rebel Girl indeed. GTFO

I still can’t believe we announced we were holding a celebratory rally for Sophie in Seattle of all places, received immense online pushback, even from WNBA players themselves, including abusive and threatening voicemails/emails, and then we showed up anyway with balloons & a lifesize Sophie, and just…. nothing happened? I had nightmares last night that I would lead my group to their death. Folks were making plans for who would take their pets and last minute wills. (I kind you not.) Turns out we outnumbered the opposition about 10 to 1, plus men came out to protect us. Thank you men! We had a great time & took a lot of pictures. People wore a lot of XX-XY Athletics gear. We had some good conversations with normies. (There were like 4 sad counter protestors that SF_TERF_CENTRAL had a fun time with. 🤣🤣🤣) Has the tide turned?!?? Senator Scott Wiener held a “Women for Scott” rally today. Yes, the man who put male rapists in women’s prisons is now touting his support for women. We showed up to talk about Wiener’s legislative record and the incarcerated women that remain invisible to many Californians. Cathleen Quinn is a political prisoner held by the state of CA for daring to say she didn’t feel safe being housed with intact men. She was 3 weeks away from her release. And the state revoked her parole. It’s important that folks understand Cathleen was punished so harshly because she and Tomiekia Johnson were the first incarcerated women to speak against SB 132. The state needed to make an example of these two women. They needed to show ALL the other women housed in prison that they better shut up or they too would lose their job, their honor dorm housing, their parole, their everything. This tactic has been highly effective. But it is crumbling. I’m super happy we have genius brain Glenna Goldis at the FTC working full time to take down WPATH, but I sure do miss her analysis as a public intellectual. This is perhaps my favorite clip of her. I often say that anyone with a working brain can figure out that men can’t be women and that gender is basically a meaningless, undefinable term in the gender world. But Glenna has this way of really getting to the heart of the idiocy in the gender world like no other. Godspeed, Glenna! Get those mf’ers at WPATH.
