In EWC qualifying, the YART Yamaha team do not refuel the bike during a pit stop. Instead, when a rider comes in, the team removes the fuel tank and replaces it with a separate tank prepared for the next rider. Inside each tank are special volume balls, used to fine-tune the available fuel capacity. The team then measures the fuel to within one tenth of a gram and checks the temperature, because warmer fuel is less dense. That means the same volume contains slightly less fuel mass, so the team has to account for temperature when preparing the tank. The aim is to carry enough fuel for the session, but no more than necessary. Less fuel means less weight, and less weight means more performance when every tenth matters. Once everything is set, the tank is fitted back onto the R1 and the next rider heads out. Tiny details. Big difference. 👍 #YamahaRacing #FIMEWC #8hSpaMotos #YART

This is not a regular fuel filler cap 👀 Endurance teams use a Stäubli refuelling connector to make pit stops as fast and efficient as possible ⛽️ Once it locks onto the tank, the mechanic pushes the filler down: fuel flows in, air is vented out, and when the fuel comes back up the side tube and hits the red marker, the tank is full. With about 90 minutes to go at Spa, Jason O'Halloran, who has been outstanding all race in the wet, has a nasty looking highside while opening up a gap at the front 💥 Despite being in obvious pain, he bravely brought the YART R1 back to the box and the team managed to fix it in under four minutes before sending Karel Hanika out in P4 💪 The good news is that despite feeling a bit battered and bruised, Jason seems to be okay 👍 #YamahaRacing | #FIMEWC | #8hSpaMotos

Only in rally raid 💪 12 km from the end of the stage, disaster struck Alessandro Botturi as a technical issue left him stranded in the desert.
