During a discussion on Sydney Starr, Marc Lamont Hill said intentionally misgendering a trans person is the same as a white person calling a Black person a n****r. The rest of the cast immediately pushed back , and Marc responded by asking them to tell him what the difference was. Park argued misgendering isn’t a slur; Hill disagreed. Park added that whether intentional or not, misgendering someone isn’t the same as calling someone the n-word.

On the Joe Budden podcast, Mona and the panel discussed comedian Tia Kemp calling out Yondr, the company that locks up audience phones at comedy shows, after realizing her fans’ phones were locked during her Zanies Nashville show. Mona argued that since Tia isn’t a stand-up comedian, she doesn’t understand why locking phones actually helps stand-ups, and it irritated her to see Tia push back. Ice countered that Tia does crowd work, but Mona disagreed, saying real crowd work is a stand-up thing. Ice suggested Tia wants fans recording so she can go viral and sell tickets, but Mona said that hurts other stand-ups who depend on phones being away. New JBP episode breaks down The Game’s “The Documentary 3” 🎙️ The whole cast agrees ; it’s a good project. Ice says he’s usually not a fan of artists naming albums after their classics, but he’s not mad The Game called this one “Documentary 3.” Joe disagreed. He thinks he shouldn’t have done it. Ice also made an interesting point: listening to this album, he finally understood why The Game is viewed a certain way on the West Coast ; it’s because he actually sounds more like an East Coast rapper. His flow, his beats, all East Coast influenced. This album, though, leans West Coast, and Ice says counting this one, that’s now 2 or 3 albums in his catalog that sound distinctly West Coast.

Joe Budden went off on Drake . Started with Joe trying to clown Drake’s dog barking. Ovo Ish pushed back: said the cast can joke, but Drake’s still out here making money and being funny. Then Joe played Drake’s “my pen is dry” line and went in. Said he doesn’t want to hear that talk from Drake after what happened with Kendrick when he was speaking that way. Ice & Ish said Drake’s just letting other rappers know he’s still ready. Joe wasn’t having it : “he lost his last 2 battles, he needs to shut up. He can talk that talk to Lil Yachty or drill rappers, but it’s over with MCs.” Kept asking who Drake’s even talking to… the cast said Jay-Z. Joe: “He’s not that dumb to be talking to Jay-Z. According to street reporter of the JBP Ice, who’s covering the Lil Durk trial, Durk has an uphill battle ahead. Ice says a few people from Durk’s own camp are working against him. Joe said he predicted that. Joe also brought up testimony from a guy who claims Durk pulled him into a bathroom and told him, “Yo, you gotta chill out, you committing too many murders.” Ice added that prosecutors are using podcasts, music videos, text messages, and lyrics as part of the case. Queensflip and Ish got into it after Queensflip called Ish a “bitch-ass n***a” and said that ever since Marc came around, Ish has been relying on him more. That was never part of the job. On the “What’s the Dirt” video about Roc Nation , he’s watched it, and says even if everything in it is true, he doesn’t care enough to go investigate it himself. Emmany asked the entire cast, including Blacc Sam and Bino, to name their top 4 favorite West Coast albums. Unsurprisingly, Kendrick Lamar’s albums came up often, especially good kid, m.A.A.d city. Blacc Sam, however, chose to name his top 4 East Coast albums instead, including two Nas albums on his list. The cast gets into NABJ’s thumbs down for Stephen A. Smith. Joe Budden disagrees with Stephen saying NABJ gave him the thumbs down because of his views against liberals. He says criticism of Stephen has been there way before he started speaking on politics, brings up Max Kellerman and how people used to say Max sounds more Black than Stephen because of his views. He also brings up Stephen’s comments about Joy and Kamala Harris, saying even though they’re both in politics, it’s the tone he speaks about these Black women that’s the issue. Marc says his only concern is whether this warrants a thumbs down, because now Stephen can say “look they don’t want me speaking against liberals” even though that’s not really true.

Rashad addresses the InvestFest backlash .🎙️ He apologizes for saying InvestFest “doesn’t need Black people” and that it’s “for everybody” ; explaining that InvestFest is his baby, and hearing the criticism and what he calls “hit pieces” hurt him deeply. That pain, he says, is what led to those comments. He clarifies: it was never a money grab. He loves Black people, and if Black people turn on him, he doesn’t know who he has left to turn to. The Joe Budden cast reacted to the “What’s the Dirt” video about Roc Nation, diving into Drake and Jay-z feud . After Ice and Ish kept saying the video was “eye-opening” and “crazy,” Joe asked them what exactly was crazy about it. Ice kept insisting the video looked crazy, even though he admitted anyone can edit a video to look however they want. Joe made the point that content creators have to be careful about what they say on their platforms, because if you say something publicly, you can be sued and dragged into court. So if AK says something that opens him up to a deposition, it’s reasonable to assume they’d use that deposition to ask him about anything, the way depositions typically work. He said that wouldn’t be shocking.

In the latest Culture united , When asked by Justin hunt if he felt intimidated by Drake’s “pen isn’t dry” comment, SYMBA said not at all, adding that it feels like Drake isn’t selling music as the main product anymore ; he’s selling himself. It looks like his goal is to build an audience he can mobilize and weaponize, feeding them through TikTok or Instagram so that whenever Kendrick or Jay-Z posts something, they’re in the comments saying “the boy’s pen is not dry.” One of the cast members, BK, agreed and added that the audience Drake is mobilizing is mostly a group of children who stay online all day long.
